As the team starts to finish up their meal, Jak dips his finger in some beer and draws a pentagram circle on the table cloth. Using this circle of focus, he sings a song the others recognize as the melody he delivered at the funeral of Alessandré. When he finishes, the room grows dim and at his side appears the ghostly apparition of a drowned man, still wearing a wide brim hat. Upon his sudden arrival, Sirona picks up a piece of bread and throws it at Jak to tell him off, but her aim hits Jak straight in the eye, and she immediately becomes apologetic. Adrian mutters his disapproval over Jak's choice of action, but the bardomancer ignores it and starts asking the summoned spirit for information about The Cardinal Casino. He tells him that it's heavily guarded and that the best way in would be utilizing magic. The ghost also tells him that the vault at its core is where the most valuable items are stored and that only the high up members of the crime family had the keys to get inside. Lastly, he offers his service to aid Jaks effort in the upcoming heist in exchange for redemption.
After finishing up, Adrian and Jak leave to find some more things to prepare before the heist. Adrian gets five sets of handcuffs to secure the crime family members with. Then they head to Bulbix's shop under the river bridge to see if he sells dimeritium shackles with the properties to suppress magical abilities. At first, Bulbix is willing to part with them for 400 gold, but when Jak offers the possibility to a sixth of the loot from the Cardinal's vault, he changes his mind. Adrian asks if Jak's lost his mind and leaves in a furious huff. Jak remains to collect the restraints from Bulbix. The goblins glamour spell to make him look like a halfling flickers as he handles the item. Before heading back to The Mysterious Boulder, Jak walks by the smithy to pick up the throwing stars and the Vambrace. He also buys a Healing kit, some rope, a hammer and pitons, incases they will need to scale the building.
Adrian is still fuming upon arrival and gets himself a bottle of wine before he starts searching for the girls. He finds them in Irdien's room, where they have resumed their earlier card game. Sirona asks if he's alright and if he wants to join their fun while simultaneously warning him for the choice of adventurous pictures imprinted on the deck. Adrian accepts the offer and tells them about Jak's deal with Bulbix. When Jak later arrives, Irdien blocks him at the door, asking him to explain the agreement. Jak, clearly not expecting the cold welcome, quickly present the neatly wrapped up Vambrace and throwing stars as a gift to her. As Irdien accepts the package along with the dimeritium shackles, Jak turns and hurriedly leaves to his own room.
Adrian asks to see the shackles, but when he gets them from Irdien, there is an overpowering painful stab in his chest, making him drop them to the floor. Sirona quickly examins him but can't find anything wrong. Adrian tries to pick up the shakes again, but the awful feeling persists. Sirona takes them away from him and tests to see if she can use her magic while holding them. The spell works, but it's slow to manifest, and she has to strain hard for it to do so. As the unpleasant sensation fades, Adrain says that it reminds him of the monster attack at his examination trials and that he might react badly to the manacles because he needs magic to stay alive. They decide to let Irdien hold on to the dimeritium shackles. As she does, Irdien discovers that her pockets do not magically refill with candy.
Irdien opens her present from Jak and finds the beautiful Vambrace and throwing weapons. Adrian suggests that she tries them out in the portal. As he opens it up, Sirona says she wants to find Jak, but Irdien announces she thinks she should be the one to do that and say thanks for the gift. The four adventurers enter the portal, leaving the suppressing shackles in the room behind.
Inside the Portal, Labrat finds Rat playfully prowling behind some rocks. She plays catch with him before giving an appreciated petting session. Meanwhile, Adrian whistles for Arcus and throws him a live chicken upon arrival. Sirona comments that that was the fastest she's ever seen anyone managed to catch a chicken.
Irdien tries out her stars on a nearby leftover ribcage from a carcass. After severing the bone in two, she is satisfied and ready to return to the real world. The group exits the portal, and Labrat asks to hold the anti-magic shackles before Irdien leaves. As she does, she feels no difference.
As Irdien leaves, Sirona says she'll head back to her room, but Adrian suggests they just play some more cards in his room. They grab the cards and go.
Irdien knocks on Jak's door, introducing herself as "his love" upon being asked. She thanks Jak for the gift and inquires about the occasion. Jak reminds her that he promised her flying stars. Irdien aks him to join them for card games, and Jak accepts.
