Our last day in Shadow Port

April 29, 2021

The morning after the birthday party, the group gather around for breakfast. Vincent tells Adrian that he intends to leave soon for home and wonders if they should try and sell this gifted house in Shadow Port.
The idea to donate it for the Monster hunter guild to become another outpost is mentioned, and Vincent decides to write over the deed of the house to Adrian.
Sirona wants to visit Jahan, and since the others are not comfortable with her being alone with the demon hunter, they all decide to go with her. Since they don't know if it's too early yet to visit, they wait until, after lunch, passing time playing cards after Irdien rejects the idea of more training on horseback.
Jahan's place in the south part of the southern district of Shadow Port looks like a long-abandoned magic shop. The storefront is boarded up, and the sign is partly broken. Nobody answers when the party knocks, but the door is unlocked. Sirona calls out for Jahan's attention as they enter, but still, there is no response. Adrian discovered that the floorboards are weak and tell the rest to be careful and distributing their weight evenly, to not fall through. Sirona finds a bell at the old counter and rings it. They hear Jahan call for them to come to the back, and the group cautiously follows.
They find Jahan in a windowless back room, where he sits on a stone floor performing a ritual with glowing runes. He explains that it's meant to shield against demons.
Sirona asks Jahan about the story of The Diabolist possessing different host bodies, letting him know that Adrian has told her about it. He says that he got suspicious when she could touch the cursed dagger and that event from her past fits the description. He is very clear that Sirona must not let herself be overtaken, and should she seem to loos that battle, make the ultimate sacrifice.
Sirona continues, asking about Soleen Serre. Jahan knows of her. He says she is one of three potential victims hosting the Diabolist spirit presently, but he has not managed to have it confirmed. Jahan asks if Sirona would be willing to sometime in the future help capturing the Diabolist by acting as bate. She accepts. Jahan offers to train her in making the type of protective wards as he was doing upon their arrival.
Lastly, Sirona asks if he knows anything about the burn she got from shaking hands with The former cardinal leader, Isrysha. Jahan can't explain it more than saying Isrysha demonic heritage may disagree with Sirona's divine one.
Jak steps up, asking if Jahan knows of any demonologists that have recently been dealt with and say that he has a magical card that would allow them to interrogate the body. Jahan says no, but that there is something in the Kavharath forest to the west of Shadow Port and that if they are willing to assist him, they may ask the corpse anything after he is done with it. The group is a little hesitant, but since it's on their way to Tarkett and doesn't seem to add to their twenty days of travel, they decide to follow along with him tomorrow.
At the house before bedtime, Sirona tries to perform the ward alone in her room. She burns some sage that she has purchased on the way back and manages to summon a protective circular shield big enough to spill over a bit into the two rooms flanking hers. She has no nightmares that night.
Jak does a ritual of his own, praying to Morena in his room. Laying out some mistletoe and his magical girdle before him, he focuses his devotion and loyalty to Morena. He gasps as an answer reaches him, in the form of the flame of his candle shifting into a cold blue light.
