Irdien’s best friend
Danesca Ilindith, being slightly younger than Irdien, is seen as the youngest daughter/sister rather than Irdien’s friend. She was raised by her mother Sarca, as Danesca lost her father at an early age (or so she’s been told). As the neighbor of Talvaeth’s family, Danesca and Irdien knew each other from childhood, but they grew closer during Orbb Ssinssrigg (Spider adoration holiday), when Danesca, at the age of eight, went there alone despite her mother being against it, as she had to work at that time. She was brought along with the Talvaeth family.
As Danesca was growing up, Sarca was more and more exhausted with additional work to keep them both alive. Eventually she got her hands on a drug to keep going, but got addicted soon. Danesca was then stuck with her mother, who made less and less money and had mood swings of apathy, aggression and regret until Danesca was fifteen. Her mother got to a point she did not recognize her own daughter and hit her in one of her psychotic episodes. Danesca ran to the Talvaeth family, where she’s stayed and lives now. She was the only reason Irdien didn’t seek revenge for what happened. Danesca occasionally visits her mother, unable to cut her out, as Sarca in her sober states keeps promising she’ll stop and that everything will be like before.
When Ertherin went missing and Irdien found out what she had to do, Danesca was the only person she said goodbye to, as she knew her parents wouldn’t let her go. Irdien also promised to write letters, but they had to be kept a secret in case something happens and Irdien won’t come back home. Danesca therefore stayed by the Talvaeths and helps to take care of Irdien’s mother.
