The Dream Master

June 21, 2020

As the group finish off the last undead that was unable to climb out of their tombs Labrat and Sirona Boyd lifts the lid back of off Thomas, the priest that had guided them here. He immediately names Landon Smithson as the owner of the boyish voice that had called out before the battle started. It is also him that is supposed to maintain this section of the crypt. Finding a skull with The Lich King's emblem embedded in its forehead, we head back to the vault doors to report to Hight Priestess Orena and make sure Landon hasn't escaped.

Orena straightaway orders guards and priest to pair up and search through the vault, although the hunt will probably take days. Since we are not familiar with the layout of the strongroom, Orena takes us to Landon's cell to search for more clues.

His room is small and sparsely furnished. Going through it we find a paper with the schedule of the lamplight guild and a book on necromancy containing a note commending Landon on his work but asking for more fresh bodies. He is told to meet with Paulos at Torsar (The Dreammaster). Orena thanks us all for our help and offers us a couple of gifts as gratitude.

Being hungry, thirsty and tired after the fight the group seeks out a tavern near the grounds of the magical schools in hope to get less unwanted stares at Irdien Talvaeth and Labrat, and maybe even Sirona's feathers. The inn they find is called The Rapid Snail, and it serves them good chicken, with gravy and ale. There is also a couple of cocktails, one is brought over for Irdian bought by a Drow Gentleman some tables further away. Sirona thinks it's romantic and compares it to a young adult book she read back at the mansion. Irdien goes over to talk with the generous man. He is called Ryldax and work on a ship and is employed by Thanor'Thal. Irdien knows this to be a noble house in the Underdark that has been destroyed a long time ago. It seems to be a code for something, but she doesn't try to imply that she knows more than she does.

While she is gone Labrat happily help to finish the rest of the parties portions of chicken. At the same time, Sirona and Adrian Maulitz talks a bit about Adrian's earlier encounters with contracts with The Three and also about his family. He says that he would like to help Sirona finding hers, but all she has to go on at the moment is the name of their farm; Raven's hill.

After dinner, they order one last chicken to go and brings it over to Rumwald Paige's home. On the way over they drop Jak o' the Wisp off at the guild house since he has kept on drinking a bit more than he should have.

Rumwald is not alone. A maid called Svetlana has already been hired to feed and nurse him back to health. Labrat happily eats the no longer needed additional chicken. Rumwald is very grateful to the group and, during Sirona's medical check-up, tells them that Jak asked him to secure passage on a ship out of Eldolan. He has contacted a vessel called The Mariner which is the same as the one the group saved from demonic possession. He also briefly mentions his condolences regarding the death of the court bards beloved sweetheart. The reveal comes as a bit of a shock to most of the party.

When they return to the guild for the evening, Adrian finds a small bundle on the floor addressed to him. It contains three kiwi sized gems, a black, a red and a blue one.

In the morning Sirona checks on Jak, who is having a severe hangover and seems to be better of left sleeping. In the downstairs kitchen, Labrat is helping herself to some excellent sausages, and Sirona attempts at making breakfast. Unfortunately having had most of her meals prepared for her or come in trail rations form she is a bit at a loss about what goes with what until Irdien shows up and saves what can be saved of the omelets she was trying to make.

The group eats and decides that they need to figure out what or who The Dream Master is. Labrat suggests asking a guard, but when Sirona later dose at least this particular city guard does not recognize the title. He advises that it sounds magical, so the group returns to the tavern named after The Rapid Snail and finds what they believe is a more experienced wizard having breakfast.

The Wizards directly recognize the title, but it's nothing magical. The Dream Master is a distributor of Dreamleaf, a substitute that deranged your mind if used excessively. He can be found in the Warrens at an old abandoned theater.

The group heads over, progressing through narrow alleyways. In one of the small passages, they meet a teenager with a knife that stops them demanding their coin purse. Adrian shows him the crusader symbol and tells him that it belonged to the last man he killed. The boy is visually intimidated by this display but says that regardless they have been ordered to stop us. His friends quickly surround us both from above and from behind.
