Jelani

The Jelani are lithe and small-framed people, mostly inhabiting the independent cities along the coast of the Sunset Sea. They have sandy skin, relatively large eyes, and hair in various bright colors. Many are expert sailors, shady operators, and mischievous traders.

Jelani Traits

Creature Type: Humanoid

Size: Medium (about 5 feet tall) or Small (about 2–4 feet tall), chosen when you select this species

Speed: 30 feet

As a Felani, you have these special traits.

Ability Score Increase Recommendation. Dexterity or Charisma.

Fools Rush In. You are quick to action, add half your Proficiency Bonus (round up) to your Initiative rolls.

Slippery. Immediately after you take damage, you can use your reaction to gain the benefits of the Dodge action until the start of your next turn and move half your Speed without provoking Attacks of Opportunity.

You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Proficiency Bonus, and can't use it again until you complete a Long Rest. 

Mischievous. You have proficiency in two of the following skills or tools of your choice: Stealth, Slight of Hand, Deception, Persuasion, Athletics, Acrobatics, Forgery Kit, Thieves' Kit, or Disguise Kit.

Additionally, you can add 1d4 to all your Tests with the chosen skills or tools.

Languages

You can speak, read, and write the language of the Empire, Sajani, and one other language. As your additional language, you can pick Jelani, a mostly dead language spoken only in certain parts and certain traditional Jelani families along the Sunset Coast. Jelani is a fluid, rapid, gibbering language, with long and round tones.
