The Sunset Coast isn't a single line on a map. It's a jagged scar on the western edge of the known world, where wind-whipped cliffs meet a sea the color of bruised dreams. It's a land of sun-bleached laws and forgotten gods, where freedom clings to the salty air like the scent of fish and adventure.
It is the homeland of the Felani, if there is such a place. The slender and sun-kissed people, with their roguish smiles and mischievous eyes. They're as quick with a joke as a knife and are the masters of this lawless land.
However, this coastal region is one of the most versatile and multicultural regions, as outcasts from other places, as well as traders, fortune seekers and fugitives, seek asylum within its rich tapestry, including Ronayu from across the Sunset Sea, people of Iskristy Lim and others from various portions of the Edge Empire.
Challenges and Unknowns:
- The Crimson Tide: Once a year, the sea turns blood-red, and monstrous sea serpents rise from the depths, driven by an unknown hunger. Sailors pray for luck, and coastal settlements batten down the hatches.
- The Shimmering Isles: A chain of mist-shrouded islands beyond the known map, rumored to hold ancient ruins, monstrous creatures, and untold riches. Many have gone seeking their fortunes, and few have returned.
Creatures:
- Sunfins: Giant manta ray creatures, patrolling the seas along the coast. Some say they're guardians, others claim they're just looking for a tasty snack. Ships take every measure to avoid them.
- Kraits: Shadowy serpents that lurk in the reefs, their venom potent enough to melt flesh. Legend tells of a colossal Kraiten, the Serpent of Storms, slumbering beneath the waves.
- Vilinous Sprites: Mischievous creatures with many arms, weaving pranks and playing tricks on unsuspecting travelers. Stealing food and most everything that isn't attached to the ground. In some places, they are a serious menace and are rumored to even hold grudges that can be deadly.
Characters:
- Mara, the Ronayu captain: With eyes like pools of twilight and a tongue sharper than her cutlass, Mara navigates the Sunset Coast with cunning and wit. She may be a pirate, but she has a code, and woe betide anyone who crosses her.
- Jarek, the Felani rogue: Gambler, thief, and occasional charmer, Jarek can talk his way out of (or into) any trouble. He knows every secret alleyway and hidden cache in Twin Cities, and every price for a whispered rumor.
- Kendra, the Iskristy engineer: Haunted by a past she won't speak of, Kendra seeks redemption in the depths of the Silverstone Mine. But will she unearth gold, or something far more dangerous?
