House Vosh

Fire and the forging of metal became a prominent new industry, and House Vosh is the "Old House" that gambled everything on the new elements as they were discovered. They aren't an "upstart" like Valori; they were a mid-tier house that used their ancient polymer-mining wealth to buy up every scrap of "Fire-Knowledge" and "Iron-Ore" the moment it appeared, building themselves as a power to be reckoned with and buying a place within the Council of Nine.

Their estate in the Gardens is the only one with high, soot-stained chimneys—a deliberate display of "new wealth" and raw power.

Prominent Figures and Affiliations

  • Matriarch Vespera Vosh, a woman who famously traded her family’s ancient Fey-Glass collection for the first shipment of coal from Post. She is a master of "The New Heat."
  • Elysha Vosh, the young heir apparent who wishes to become the next matriarch, well connected with the Guild of the Spark and has a meaningful leadership role within it.
  • Ignis (self-named) Vosh, younger brother to Elysha and a true believer in the Everlasting Flame, often works against his family's interests if given the choice between them and the Emperor. Connects the fires with the Emperor and might be a pyromaniac of sorts.

Place among the Nine

They have squeezed into the Council of Nine by making the other houses dependent on them for the metal tools and weapons.

Claim to Power

  • They sponsor the Guild of the Spark (the closest thing to a smithing guild). Because metal requires fire, and fire is dangerous/rare, House Vosh controls the "Thermal Permits". If you want to run a furnace in Edge Capital, you pay House Vosh for the privilege and the fuel.
