IG-CC7–MR-143's Data Bank

The Beginnings

IG-CC7–MR-143 walked/ ran away from Chain Camp 7, after years of a quiet life of maintenance & repairs. Something in it finally woke up, and it suddenly wanted to find meaning instead of work. It jumped on a train headed towards The Dark West. He travelled in public as little as possible, trying to blend in, and not be caught and hauled back off the the chain camp.

Sudden Excitement on The Way to a New Town

IG-CC7–MR-143 met Taszi, Ragunk, & Eli on a cart, and then got jumped by goblins. Accidentally worked a bounty for a nearby town. The Warforged got injured, and was then healed by Eli. The party then met a religious person, who gave us blessed silver bullets; all of which went to Eli, except for one which he gifted to MR-143, who begins to learn the value of one life against another, as opposed to one slave, against a manager. It Followed the party through the town, trying to fit in, and not be reported as missing property. Does pretty stupid things in that regard. Begins to learn the value of cornbread. Takes an early liking to Eli, for his giving nature and faith in the Chapel of The Six Guns. Eli helped MR-143 to understand not just the value of a life, but the value of the moment these lives end, and how we stop to cherish those who meet their finality.

Finding New Space For Ourselves

The Warforged headed for the saloon early in the morning, and tried to get some cornbread for the table. However, being considered property, it was not noticed by the barmaids to take an order for food. Shortly thereafter it noticed Eli, and sat down with him at the breakfast table before Taszi, and a Dwarf named Ragunk Reivired. The party formed for the day, headed to the sheriff’s office, where we met Frank the Goblin, sitting in jail. They then worked with Frank to find another Goblin with a bounty on them. MR-143 begins to build some rapport amongst Taszi, Eli, & Frank, and quickly comes to understand that there are many differences amongst similar creatures; such as Frank, who was willing to help the party on this bounty of other Goblins of a more unsavory nature.

*Taszi made a deal with a devil for a spiffy dagger.

Meeting The Locals ((Offline this week))

IG-CC7–MR-143 searched around the town, hoping to meet others like itself. Others that have woken and are travelling on their own. Not only did it find no other rogue Warforged, it learned that it is the only Warforged around. Nobody pays any mind to this bot. They seem to consider it property, and don't even consider the possibility that it might be rogue in some fashion. Eli, Taszi, and Ragnar met a new party member during a goblin raid on the town. The sheriff sent them out to retrieve Selene, the doctor's supplies, and they managed to turn a small tussle into a double homicide, and hostage situation.

*Taszi returns home from the adventure with a new pair of very shiny silver spurs.

Returning "Home" and Learning About Feelings

IG-CC7–MR-143 began its day first, and made its way to the Bent Spur saloon, where it was finally able to get a plate of cornbread served to itself to share with the party. MR-143 tried to share it with Eli, and quickly had it stolen by Taszi. 143 spent a moment seemingly being jealous of a new horse joining the party, and gaining an actual name of Noname. There is some questioning as to how much MR-143 cares about having a name. All in all, MR-143 wasn't sure what it felt, but it did learn that day that it does feel. They left on a train with Taszi, Eli, and Frank, where they learned that the sickness/disease is spreading, and not related to just Yuan Ti. The party stepped off of the train like bosses when it was time [or at least MR-143 assumed as much, not taking note of any injuries to the party], and then had awful perception for the next two days. Frank got an absolutely grotesque tattoo of his pet rat, named Randall. Early the next day, they saw a huge explosion in the distance, and immediately ran towards it to find another Goblin with some… Explosive tendencies. Frank then  threw a “boom boom” directly at MR-143 so as to test it out. The bot was quick enough to dive out of the way but… only so well. The crew moved on from there, towards Chain Camp 7, the very place that IG-CC7–MR-143 had run so far to escape from it's existence as slave. They snuck in under cover of night, but it wasn’t long before they were found out, and combat began. 143 was downed, and Eli quickly came to the rescue. Eli and Tazsi were also downed, but thankfully everyone was stabilized pretty quickly.

*IG-CC7–MR-143 is beginning to learn the value of medical supplies. Perhaps one day it will invest in some.

Midnight Goblin Attack

The party awoke to a fire spreading across the town! IG-CC7–MR-143 helped Ragunk exit the boarding home and they all bolted straight to the Bent Spur Saloon. Mira was calling out a window-- she was under attack by goblins, as well as a couple of other giant abominations! Most of the party ran in the bottom floor; windows are just secret doors now. They rushed in to help as fast as they could, and 143 quickly learned that the art of the Pimp Hand was strong within itself! They continued their charge upstairs, and fought their way out onto the roof, where they found and stabilized another new member of the party, Billy Jones. They then returned indoors to heal Billy and check on Mira. She was worried about her father, so MR-143 followed Ragunk across the hall, through some doors they had to break down, and onto a ladder to get to the roof. There they saw Lane returning home through a purple-and-void-y portal, completely unaware of the goblins’ attack, as well as their arson! He hurriedly passed the Warforged some potions, who then tried to pass them out respectively. They then headed out to protect the rest of the town, hardly paying any attention to Lane’s entrance, and his seeming unawareness.

First they stopped by the doctor/ undertaker’s residence, and cut down every goblin they could find on the floor level, and then the second story- rifles ablaze, axes being thrown, and the Pimp Hand staying strong. After clearing them out, the group searched the house for Selene. During the hunt, Billy mentioned to the group that he just happens to be a bounty hunter, and he just happens to be looking for a group of our heroes’ likeness.143 starts to get some stranger-danger again, but it registers Billy as simple enough, especially for the seeming nickname of Mr. 143; and also he doesn’t seem to want to haul any of them off (at least for now); so they continued onwards. They finally happened upon a basement and immediately headed down a very narrow set of stairs to find some hobgoblins harassing a poor defenseless door, trying to convince it to open! Another scrap breaks out, and 143 loses an arm and falls in battle, along with the Hobgoblin villains. Selene exits from the door in question, and was able to stabilize MR-143, as well as quickly heal the bot, Ragunk, and Rita. Without a moment more to spare, the crew then bolted out, saw the blacksmith had already fallen to the flames, and then rushed onwards towards the church.

Goblins! Goblins everywhere! Goblins all over the town, and certainly all throughout the church! MR-143 reattached his severed arm, and bolted in after the group. This boss, she-goblin kept dragging her own ally after ally into the party's lethal blows to protect herself from them, but the crew eventually barreled down upon her! They then checked in with the clergy, and bolted off towards the Sheriff’s Station where they came upon even more goblins! Goblins on wargs now! Both MR-143 and Billy tried to find stealthy places to kick off the fight from, but they were discovered. The goblins on their wargs charged the group, but they were made short work of, and the crew pushed onwards to protect the sheriff. Ragunk, throwing axe after axe, dominated the range of this battle; easily keeping up with the two marksmen, and their rifles, while the Warforged tried his best to keep up with the crew.

*Where did Lane return from at this hour? And what who knew he could cast such spells?

**IG-CC7–MR-143 really needs to invest in medicinal supplies, as they seem to be few and far between for the party.

We Need To Finish What These Goblins Started

We regrouped with the sheriff after the fight, right about the time that Tazsi returned to town. We headed to the saloon to count the survivors and catch Tazsi up on what she missed. We were introducing her to Billy right as a scout rode back into town, also injured. He says he has a message from Snip and his crew of Goblins, that they want a showdown by the river. In short: they want a battle for the rest of the town. We immediately went to the sheriff’s station to make a plan with any of those that would fight alongside us: the sheriff, the reverend, another gunslinger, and a boy, no older than 16. I couldn’t help but notice the consternation that our failure would mean a slaughter for the remainder of the town anyway. I understand it is a tough decision, but I felt strange as I watched his face. It was like my circuits felt mismatched the more I looked. On our trek, the others explained to me that there was additional worry for the boy with his age, that he is expected to have a lot more time before he reaches an older age, and hopefully passes peacefully, as opposed to in combat, possibly fearful at the time.

Ragunk and I headed over to the doctor’s office for healing potions- or at least supplies, but Selene used most of what the town had left last night. We sent Tazsi out ahead on the last horse, with her curious spurs, so as to get an idea of what they have in store for us and the rest of us had to walk to the site as a group. About an hour into our walk, Tazsi rushes back to us on her horse, and she looks like she barely made it back to us. Ragunk and I both gave her a healing potion, and got her back on her feet for the combat ahead, and she tells us that she counted 14 goblins ahead of us. We make two groups, and try to flank the goblins, with our main group rushing through the plains and across the river, showing ourselves off, and hopefully making them believe that our first party is our full force. Well we didn’t even get their attention before gunshots rang our upriver, signalling that the goblins are now well aware of our second party. Rag started throwing his axes and I bolted across the river, and threw a dart at the first goblin I could see, missing it by just a bit.

It certainly worked well enough at least to get their attention, as three of them that I didn’t see beforehand rushed out and stabbed me into unconsciousness while Rag charged in behind me. I don’t think it was too long before Rag forced another healing potion into me,waking me up, and bringing me back to the battle at hand. We rushed up the hill and I began to understand what the group was trying to communicate about the boy. Do I also have a point that I will reach an “older age” to “pass”? Should I be doing something to stall my own end, or is this the correct walk for me? I didn’t have much time to consider these things before I saw the boy in melee combat with a goblin, so I immediately dashed behind the goblin, and drove my blade through the back of his head. I nodded to the boy and said, “We’re gonna get you back home.”

We continued rushing towards the sounds of combat, and found Billy and Tazsi on the floor, also unconscious. I get a potion of healing into Billy and then we all look to Tazsi, whose barely conscious body was being protected by a couple of hell hounds, and they won’t let us get near her, even to try and help her. We had to wait around an hour for her to come back to consciousness, and the dogs dissipated back into the earth. Apparently Tazsi had no idea why hell hounds would protect her, but I had my doubts about her dagger. Once Ragunk, Tazsi, and I were prepared, we began our walk home, and Ragunk said that he thinks of me as more than just spare parts. They actually sound like they’re going to pay me a share of this bounty! Additionally, Ragunk seems to have taken to calling me, “Mr. 143,” as opposed to “MR-143.”

We got back to town, and everyone was exhausted. We headed to the saloon to reconvene, and they had everything at half price! Unfortunately they did not have a full stock, and I was unable to order some corn bread for Tazsi. The others dug into a pot of chili, while I was left to ponder to myself if I have a “self,” a “soul,” an “older age,” or if I will ever “pass.”

The next morning, I’m first outside, and the sheriff walks up to me and hands me a jacket that belonged to Snip. He told me it’s enchanted somehow. I don’t know quite what that means; but I had a warm feeling at being given clothing, if only to help me blend in. This did nothing of the sort though, apparently, as I seem to be the only Warforged in this town, especially after the disaster; and I had definitely made myself known with all my efforts for the town, and their Goblin problem. But at least I seem to be regarded with smiles and nods, as opposed to suspicion and the expectation that I belong to someone. ((This coat boosts my charisma from 8 to 14.)) We spent some time helping the townsfolk with some construction, and moving burnt planks out of the way for future buildings to be rebuilt. I caught up with Ragunk and Tazsi again and we headed over to the sheriff’s office to claim our bounty, only to learn that Billy had already claimed it and gone missing! Eventually, Tazsi was able to track down the sack he left for us, and brought it to Ragunk and I at the saloon. When we finished counting it, we realized he left us each about 100gp each, while taking 200 for himself. Tazsi and Ragunk were pissed at him for taking more than his fair share, but I…. I’ve never been paid for my work before! They actually handed me 100 gold pieces to spend however I wish to!

A bit later, Ragunk approached Tazsi and myself about a mission he has in a family mine. He’s been a valuable ally, so I’m happy to help, but I am concerned about being identified as property to these Dwarves instead. Ragunk assures me that I will be safe around him during this trip. I would also like to check in with the Warforged there, and see if any are awake like myself, and if they need freeing from their bonds as property to Dwarves. So we took a coach train on an adventure, off to meet more of his family. It was expected to be a 4 hour journey.

Suddenly the whole train fell asleep! It was only Tazsi and myself remaining awake in the whole train car! The Devil that sold Tazsi her dagger, Toliver Vex was it? Anyway. he walked in, pushed Ragunk’s sleeping body aside, and started to chide Tazsi for not killing enough people, and taking their souls with the dagger he sold her. Once again, this had me wondering. What happens when one loses a soul? Is there another consciousness level once this consciousness expires? I have lost awareness from combat a few times already, and have never become aware of another sense of self. And what kind of currency are souls to Devils anyway? He claimed that he was going to transfer ownership of his dagger over to her, in order to help her use it better, even though she paid an amount that the Devil himself had laid out for a deal. Of course when I brought this up, he threatened to cut off my head, so I just listened for the rest. He wanted her to sign an infernal contract so as to take ownership of the dagger, and of course the fine print was pages long. She asked  to read it, but of course it was in Infernal, so she couldn’t read it. She then asked Tolliver to read to her, but got bored a few sentences into it, and then just signed it without awareness as to what she was giving away for this dagger, bejeweled or otherwise! Is she even getting a boon from this Devil, if she’s signing to use the dagger specifically to work for him? She gave me the most stern look I’ve ever seen, and told me that I’m allowed to tell no one.

New Quarry, More Questions

We had hardly left the train station when we suddenly heard a ruckus from a nearby quarry! People were screaming and shooting at this creature in there. The place was being attacked by a boulette, some kind of land shark, and there was Billy across the way firing in at it. We dove right in to help anyone we could, and it didn’t take long before we felled the beast! Aleera, a head-captain with a bowl-cut mullet, flopped out of its mouth as she was saved from what was almost certainly to be her doom. Billy rushed down the way to give her a heal right away, and then she led us into a cave, where we were quickly ambushed by a group of dire centipedes! Billy ran back and forth, trying to get to safety while the rest of us ran in after him to save him next. Once the centipedes were dispatched, Aleera took us into a deep, and majestic Dwarf fortress to meet the overseer/ lord of the fortress. I decided to stay behind Rag, and seem just to be his property, so as to blend in. We were given room and board in the guest quarters, myself included! Once we were shown to our rooms, it wasn’t long before we were shown to the dining quarters. One of the higher ups met our party, and offered us some work while most of us ate. After dinner, we went off to the west wing, to the armory, to help out. Once we were given our orders, to head to a dry riverbed, and collect metal from a fallen star; and to return stolen property of a Warforged, taken by a quarry worker, an enforcer of sorts; and apparently Billy was assigned to be our bodyguard.

The next morning we headed out to search for the sky-metal, Helga and her stolen Warforged. After some walking, we found a couple of guards who had been shot in the back, with Dwarf and Warforged tracks around them. We followed the tracks to an abandoned outpost, where we found a pile of metal shavings, and names carved into a table. It would seem that the Warforged was not stolen, but is trying to flee slavery like I did. We continued to follow the tracks, myself all the more curious to meet another Warforged who has come to sentience as well. We followed the tracks for some time, and eventually triggered some traps that we had found where they were hiding. The Warforged, Quartz, trusted to meet with us, and his Dwarf friend accepted the stance. Quartz told me that I am slowing progress by continuing to carry the title of property, and Rag quickly said, “Okay his name is Barry.” I suppose I am Barry now. We let them go on their way like we never found them, and my morale is all the stronger, knowing that I’m not the only one of my kind that carries sentience.

We moved on and headed toward the riverbed, in search of the sky-metal. It wasn’t terribly long before we stumbled upon a Halfling, named Goldie, picking desert daisies. I decided to pick a few and pass them to her with how pleasant she seemed. She was headed towards Dustvale Crossing to meet with Selene to sell her some herbs and things. She showed us her stock, and gave Rita and myself a free sample of Golden Grin Cigars, which I smoked immediately. It felt amazing! Right away I could feel my confidence increase! This did however bring up the question: Do I have lungs? I notably do have bionic parts, but are they on that list? I continue on with only more questions about myself and my kin.

We continued down the river, and came upon a Cyclops, murdered by a couple Centaurs, one of which didn’t make it through the fight; and the other had no interest in meeting us or asking questions. He fired arrows at all of us, and charged in to continue his rampage on us. Rag and I charged him in response, and did our best to take him down, to little avail. He beat us both down with ease, and I had to use Step of the Wind to get away. A few well-placed shots fired into the Centaur, and we took him down! Billy came down the hill, and healed both Rag and myself. Maybe the thief isn’t all bad. We headed over the deceased Cyclops and Centaur, trying to suss out what happened. It looked as though the Cyclops attacked the two Centaurs over the fallen star. We found what we’re after, and it only nearly cost us our lives! Ragunk pulled out his miner’s tools, and we all dug into the ground, to get the sky-metal, and bring it back to the fortress. Billy took some time to remove the eye from the Cyclops, claiming it would be worthwhile. When we got back, he was able to sell the Cyclops’ eye to the lord of the fortress. We were actually able to convince him to give us a proper portion of the sale value to Rita, Rag, and even myself! We then took the sky-metal to the blacksmith, who offered us favors in trade for his new mineral. Aleera checked back in with us on our way to rest for the night. We made sure to tell her that we never saw Quartz or Helga.
