Xinon

Prince of the Lost

Description

In the shadowy depths of the First Sphere of the Underworld, an enigmatic and malevolent force reigns in one corner— Xinon, the Abyssal God of Dark Magic and Manipulation of Fate. Known as the Prince of the Lost, he stands as a counterpart and rival to Visarius, the Shadow Baron, with whom he shares dominion over shadows and deceit. While Visarius thrives on illusion and trickery, Xinon masters curses, fate, and the weaving of destiny itself, shaping mortals and demons alike to serve his dark will.

Xinon’s followers seek power, dominion, and insight into the threads of fate, but dealing with him comes at a perilous cost. The “gifts” he grants are often traps, leaving those who invoke his aid ensnared in their own misfortune.

Xinon is most commonly depicted as a tall, hooded shadow, his form obscured by a swirling cloak of darkness. Only a pair of glowing red eyes pierce the void, a constant reminder of his presence and watchfulness. His form is ever-shifting, a living silhouette of night, giving the impression that the very shadows themselves serve as his body. Despite his intimidating appearance, Xinon rarely strikes with brute force. Instead, he works through subtlety, weaving fate and manipulating outcomes from the darkness.

History

Legends place Xinon’s origins alongside other abyssal entities, arising at the dawn of the Abyss to govern the dark threads of destiny. He is said to have first appeared to mortals who had become lost in the deep caverns of Midora or punished by the world’s greater powers.

Throughout the ages, Xinon has built a shadowy empire in the underworld, commanding demons, warlocks, and mortals who seek dominion over others. His influence on Midora has often been indirect, achieved through curses, manipulation, and the secretive orchestration of events that mortals would misinterpret as coincidence or misfortune.

Personality

Xinon embodies cold, calculating authority. He revels in control and foresight, preferring to manipulate events from the shadows rather than engage in open combat. Despite being called the Prince of the Lost, he rarely acknowledges the title publicly, letting mortals whisper it with fear.

He is highly intelligent and strategic, treating every mortal and demon like pieces on a chessboard. His enjoyment comes not from direct violence, but from observing how carefully laid plans unravel and misfortune befalls those who underestimate him. Xinon values patience, subtlety, and the inevitability of fate, using these tools to bend the world to his vision.

Worshipers

Xinon’s mortal following is known as The Lost Souls, a secretive and fanatical cult of devoted worshipers. Many are genuinely lost — deep underground, punished by their gods, or cast out by mortal society. Others are drawn to his promise of dominion over fate, glory, and power.

  • The Lost Souls  – They operate in the shadows, maintaining hidden temples, underground shrines, and labyrinthine networks of spies and informants. Rituals are conducted in secrecy and often involve sacrifice, dark magic, and the manipulation of fate itself. Cultists engage in kidnapping, assassination, and other illicit acts to strengthen Xinon’s influence and further their own positions within the cult.

Despite their dark methods, the cult continues to grow, spreading across the underworld and into Midora, always plotting to expand Xinon’s dominion and bring his vision of fate-warped glory to the mortal realm.

Eternal Rivalry

Xinon is eternally opposed by Visarius, the Shadow Baron, with whom he shares control over the First Sphere. Their rivalry is a battle of cunning, manipulation, and strategic dominance, rather than open combat. While Visarius thrives on illusions and deception, Xinon wields curses, manipulates destiny, and exerts control over the threads of fate.

Encounters between the two are rare but catastrophic, often destabilizing the First Sphere itself. Legions of demons and mortals alike can become trapped in intricate schemes designed by both gods, their lives used as pawns in a cosmic contest of shadows. Scholars and abyssal prophets sometimes speculate that Xinon and Visarius may be two halves of a singular, greater entity — inseparably linked, bound to maintain a balance of cunning and treachery in the First Sphere.

Abilities

  • Master of Fate: Xinon can manipulate destiny, ensuring that events unfold to his advantage or sealing misfortune for his enemies.
  • Curses: He can lay potent, lasting curses that affect mortals, demons, and even divine beings.
  • Shadow Manipulation: His control over darkness allows him to move undetected, create illusions, or ensnare victims in shadowy prisons.
  • Deceptive Influence: Xinon can subtly manipulate thoughts, sow discord, and bend mortals toward unintended outcomes.
  • Strategic Foresight: A cunning planner, Xinon anticipates threats and opportunities, often staying steps ahead of rivals and followers alike.

Possessions / Relics

A handful relics are attributed directly to Xinon, for his gifts are often cursed traps for his own cult followers and to his enemies who may end up acquiring his gifts from said cultists.

  • Abyssal Flesh Pact: A living symbiotic shadow made manifest from an archfiend.
  • Cursed Tomes of Fate: Ancient books containing knowledge of forbidden magic, twists of destiny, and methods for bending mortal lives.
  • The Veil of Red Eyes: A hooded cloak imbued with his essence, allowing the wearer to see through shadows and manipulate luck.

Legacy

Xinon’s influence endures in whispers, shadowed deeds, and the fates of mortals who were never aware they were pawns. He embodies the dangerous allure of power over fate — a cautionary figure for those who meddle with the unseen threads of existence. His rivalry with Visarius ensures that the First Sphere remains a realm of ceaseless intrigue, deception, and shifting dominion, a perpetual testament to the Prince of the Lost’s cunning and influence.
