Red Meadowpawn

Component / Consumable

The Red Meadowpawn is a striking and dangerous giant red mushroom that grows exclusively within the perilous depths of the Stormwoods. Its vibrant red cap and thick stalk make it easily distinguishable among the forest's vegetation, drawing the curiosity of adventurers and alchemists alike. However, this mushroom harbors a potent toxin that can have dire consequences for those who come into contact with it.

When the Red Meadowpawn is harmed or disturbed, it releases a toxic gas as a defense mechanism. This gas is highly detrimental to any creatures within a 10-foot radius of the mushroom. Any creature within range must make a Constitution saving throw (DC 14) to resist the effects. On a failed save, the creature takes 1d8 psychic damage and suffers 1 point of exhaustion. On a successful save, the damage is halved, and the exhaustion is avoided.

While the Red Meadowpawn's toxicity presents a significant danger, some unscrupulous individuals may see potential uses for its harmful properties. If consumed, the mushroom drains the affected creature's vitality, causing them to suffer 1 point of exhaustion. This can be a desperate move in dire circumstances, but the consequences of such an action can be severe.
