Okari Katamoro was born to a human mother and a Nekshou father, who abandoned her family before Okari was born. Growing up, Okari always felt like she didn't quite fit in anywhere. She was told about her father in her youth and when she hit her puberty the Nekshou curse began to change her, she fought the change with tooth and nail. Eventually she resisted the curse to take full effect and left her with few feline features. Her feline ears and occasional cat-like behaviors set her apart from the other children in her village, and she often felt like an outsider.
When she was old enough to leave home, Okari set out on her own, travelling from town to town and taking odd jobs to make ends meet. She worked as a server in taverns, a stable hand in a horse ranch, and even as a guard for a travelling merchant caravan. Despite her wanderings, Okari always felt a sense of loneliness and longing for a place to call home. It wasn't until she arrived in Tazhien and started working at the Maiden of the Pond Inn under the Kabimara family that Okari finally found a place where she felt she belonged. The Kabimara family welcomed her with open arms, and Okari quickly became a valued member of the Inn's staff.
As a Maiden of the Pond, Okari is responsible for ensuring that guests have a comfortable and enjoyable stay at the Inn. She serves food and drinks, helps with cleaning and maintenance, and even entertains guests with her musical talents. Her feline features have become something of a novelty for the Inn's guests, and Okari has become a popular figure among the town's visitors. Despite her happy life at the Inn, Okari still sometimes feels a sense of longing for her Nekshou father she never knew. She has occasionally attempted to track down information about her father, but so far her efforts have been fruitless. For now, she is content to continue working at the Inn and living among the Kabimara family.
