The Scroll of Frost Nova is a well-known spell among mages who specialize in elemental magic. It is said that the spell was first discovered by an ancient mage in Kalamar who spent many years studying the mysteries of ice and snow. According to legend, the mage was traveling through a harsh, frozen plains of Kalamar when he stumbled upon a cave that was filled with ice crystals. As he studied the crystals, he began to feel a strange power coursing through his body. Suddenly, he was hit by a blast of cold air that left him gasping for breath.

But despite the danger, the wizard was determined to learn the secrets of the ice crystals. He spent many months studying them, experimenting with different spells and incantations until he finally discovered the magic that would become known as the Frost Nova. Over time, the spell spread to other mages who studied elemental magic, and it soon became a staple of their repertoire. However, many mages warn against using the spell indiscriminately, as the power of the Frost Nova can be unpredictable and dangerous in the wrong hands. Some even believe that the spell is cursed, that its magic comes from Roahirii, and that those who use it too often will be doomed to a frozen, isolated existence.

Effect: This scroll contains a spell that creates a sudden blast of icy cold, freezing enemies in their tracks. The spell deals 6d8 cold damage to all creatures in a 15-foot radius and they must make a Constitution saving throw or be stunned for one round.

Crafting Requirements

To craft the Scroll of Frost Nova, the player must gather rare and exotic components:

  1. Frost Lotus: A rare flower that only grows in the coldest of climates. It can only be found the frozen Everwhite Woods, Frost Woods, Frozen Grove

  2. Elemental Ice: A solid chunk of pure ice imbued with the power of elemental frost. This can be obtained by defeating an ice elemental or by traveling to the coldest coasts of Kalamar.

  3. Arcane Dust: A fine powder created from crushed arcane crystals. It is a byproduct of magical experiments and can be made by destroying a crystal focus.

  4. Scroll of Frostbite: A lesser spell that involves creating a small patch of frost. This is used as a base spell for the more powerful Frost Nova.

Once the components have been gathered, they must be combined in a ritualistic manner over four hours (short rest). The process involves chanting ancient incantations and performing intricate hand gestures. The caster must also make a successful Arcana check (DC 14), to ensure that the spell is imbued properly into the scroll.
