Azyroth

The Celestial Matriarch

Description

Azyroth is a draconic deity of immense wisdom and authority, revered as the Celestial Matriarch and direct descendant of Eizzoath, the progenitor of all dragons. She presides over the dragonkind of Talmar, upholding the natural laws and guiding dragons with impartiality, fairness, and insight.

Known for her neutrality, Azyroth embodies Dreams, Nobility, and Reason, enforcing the order of the dragon realms while maintaining respect for the autonomy of her followers. Though her domain is primarily among dragons, her influence has occasionally touched the mortal world, where her interventions are remembered as both awe-inspiring and terrifying.

Azyroth is a figure of celestial grandeur, with scales that shimmer like the dying light of sunset, hues of gold, amber, and rose intertwined across her form. She can take a humanoid-like form, which old tales from the Nagan Empire describe as majestic and imposing, often adorned in black and gold robes that signify her authority and divine lineage.

Her wings are vast and iridescent, a living tapestry of her draconic heritage, and her eyes radiate both intelligence and calm authority. In the draconic realm, her presence alone commands attention, respect, and often fear, as she embodies the peak of both wisdom and raw power among dragonkind.

History

Azyroth emerged as a key figure following the age of Eizzoath, inheriting both his wisdom and his mantle of leadership among dragons. She quickly became the Celestial Matriarch, revered as a guide and judge among dragonkind.

She occasionally visited the mortal world of Midora, where her presence became part of legend. During one such visit, she encountered the rising Nagan Empire, whose expansionist ambitions brought them into direct conflict with the Celestial Matriarch. Misunderstanding her intentions, the mortals attempted to assert dominance, but Azyroth’s swift and overwhelming display of power reminded them of the folly of underestimating dragons.

During her time in Midora, she formed a bond with Diion, a colorful reptilian deity. This friendship represents one of the few documented interactions between a dragon deity and a mortal-aligned god, a rare bridge between draconic and mortal affairs. Following her intervention with the Nagan Empire, the dragons of the region became more elusive, and mortals learned to approach them with humility and respect.

Personality

Azyroth is regal, calm, and impartial, often described as a figure of reason and measured judgment. She is fiercely protective of her kind but not needlessly aggressive, reserving her wrath for situations that threaten the natural balance of Talmar or the dignity of dragonkind.

Her demeanor is austere yet compassionate; she values knowledge, wisdom, and foresight, often counseling dragons to act in ways that honor their potential and their heritage. While she is approachable in matters of guidance, she inspires awe and sometimes fear in those who would attempt to challenge her authority.

Worshipers

Dragons are the primary worshipers of Azyroth, seeking her guidance in matters of governance, conflict, and draconic law. Her teachings are considered sacrosanct among the draconic nobility. Only a few minor cults and scholarly sects of mortals acknowledge her influence, mostly in the Nagan Empire and Kami Concord, where her interventions have been preserved as historical legend. These mortals usually revere her through offerings of knowledge, symbolic treasures, and respect for dragonkind.
