Scroll of Fey Familiar

The Scroll of Fey Familiar is a delicately crafted, exquisitely illustrated parchment adorned with vibrant images of various ethereal and playful fey creatures. Its intricate drawings come alive with shimmering colors as the scroll is unfurled. However, its magic is not accessible to just anyone; only a character with a genuinely good and benevolent alignment can attune to its mystical power.

Attunement:

The scroll's magic is inherently tied to the forces of goodness and harmony. Only a character whose alignment is firmly rooted in goodness, such as Neutral Good, Lawful Good, or Chaotic Good, can successfully attune to the scroll and unlock its secrets.

Upon picking up the scroll, a potential attuner feels a gentle warmth emanating from the parchment. As they study the vivid illustrations and demonstrate their true intentions, the scroll discerns the purity of their heart and grants access to its magic only to those whose souls are genuinely good. This attunement process may involve a brief, dream-like interaction with a friendly, glowing fey spirit, representing the scroll's guardian of benevolence.

Abilities:

Once successfully attuned, the reader gains the magical ability to summon a Fey Familiar to be their loyal companion. The Fey Familiar is a tiny creature with distinct fey traits, such as delicate wings, glowing eyes, or iridescent skin. It may take the form of a miniature pixie, sprite, faerie dragon, or any other small, enchanting creature of the player's choice (subject to DM approval).

The Fey Familiar can perform a wide range of helpful tasks, including:

  • Assisting in Spells: During spellcasting, the Fey Familiar can aid its master, providing advantage on one attack roll or granting advantage on one ability check related to the spell's effects.

  • Delivering Messages: The Fey Familiar can carry small written messages or objects to other characters or NPCs, even over long distances.

  • Fetching Items: The familiar can retrieve small, non-dangerous objects, such as keys or trinkets, from hard-to-reach places.

  • Providing Emotional Support: The presence of the Fey Familiar brings comfort and encouragement to its master, providing advantage on saving throws against fear or charm effects.

Limitations:

The power of the Fey Familiar is linked to the goodness of its master. If the character's alignment shifts to one that no longer embodies true benevolence, the familiar's magic will fade, and it will depart. The Fey Familiar will only return once the character has demonstrated genuine remorse for their actions and has taken significant steps towards redemption.

Additionally, the Fey Familiar is a sentient being, and though loyal, it has its own thoughts, feelings, and personality. It will not willingly engage in malevolent activities or participate in actions that go against its innate sense of goodness.
