Evelara and Meliora, known as the Illidin Twins, are sister wizards whose origins are shrouded in mystery, lost to the annals of time. Once residents of the now-ruined city of Vindrik, they turned to the dark arts of necromancy in a desperate bid for survival following the city's fall. Their obsession with preserving their existence led them to embrace the path of lichdom, a transformation that granted them immortality at the cost of their humanity.
The twins have been bound to the Pale Tower for the last three centuries, consumed by a twisted self-absorption centered on their physical appearance. They refuse to accept their skeletal, deathly forms, a byproduct of their undeath, and are obsessed with regaining mortal beauty. This obsession drives them to lure unwitting victims to the tower, seeking to harvest these unfortunate souls' physical features in a vain attempt to restore their lost beauty.
In the year 913 of the Fourth Age, the Illidin Twins encountered a group of adventurers known as The Travellers, who dared to enter the Pale Tower despite being warned by its master. The adventurers ascended the tower, intent on reaching the master at its peak. However, before they could do so, they were confronted by the twins. During the confrontation, Evelara was severely injured when Amelia, one of the adventurers, threw holy water at her, damaging her face. The paladin Bartimaeus then struck her down with a holy smite, seemingly defeating her.
However, the victory was short-lived. Meliora, witnessing her sister's defilement and apparent defeat, reacted with shock and fury. In a rage, she cursed Bartimaeus, vowing to finish him at a future encounter. Demonstrating her formidable magical prowess, she teleported the adventurers out of the tower, allowing them to escape but also ensuring that they would be better prepared for a true battle upon their inevitable return.
The Illidin Twins remain a formidable and malevolent presence within the Pale Tower, their lust for mortal beauty undiminished, and their hatred for the adventurers who dared to defy them still burning brightly.
