Venator's Vengeance

Longbow (Requires attunement)

Venator's Vengeance is a revered longbow shrouded in mystery and legend. Its sleek, dark wood is etched with intricate gold patterns that seem to shift and change when observed from different angles. The bow initially appears without a string, making it seem incomplete or mundane. However, when attuned to a creature, a magical bowstring of ethereal energy materializes, glowing faintly with a soft blue light. The longbow’s design and craftsmanship are of exceptional quality, hinting at its ancient origins and storied past.

Given its legendary status and powerful enchantments, Venator's Vengeance is considered priceless. It is a treasure sought by collectors, hunters, and adventurers alike.

The name "Venator's Vengeance" has appeared in bardic songs and sagas for centuries. The longbow has passed through the hands of various rangers and monster hunters, each of whom has left their mark on the bow’s history. Despite its many wielders, the bow’s origins remain shrouded in mystery. Legends speak of it being a creation and gift from the archangel Chorian. The bow is said to embody the spirit of vengeance against those who threaten the natural world.

Attunement:

To attune to Venator's Vengeance, you must spend a short rest focusing on the longbow. Upon attunement, the bowstring manifests and the bow reveals its true powers.

Special Features:

  • Vengeful Strikes: Venator's Vengeance grants a +2 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon.
  • Favored Target: Once per day, while attuned to the longbow, you can choose one type of creature (such as aberrations, celestials, dragons, fey, fiends, or undead). The longbow deals an additional 1d6 damage to creatures of the chosen type.
  • Blood Sense: While holding the longbow, the wielder can use an action to detect the presence of creatures with the same type as the chosen Favored Enemy within 1 mile. This feature does not reveal the creatures' location or number, only their presence.
  • Blood Mark: As a bonus action, the wielder can mark a target they can see within 120 feet. The mark lasts for 1 hour or until the target is reduced to 0 hit points. While marked, the target cannot become invisible to the wielder, and the wielder gains advantage on Wisdom (Survival) checks to track the target. This ability can be used once per short or long rest.
