Stormpiercer

Longsword (Requires attunement)

Stormpiercer is a masterwork of Dynasty craftsmanship, its blade jagged like a bolt of lightning frozen in time, forged from golden metal that shimmers with faint arcs of electricity. The weapon's origins are shrouded in mystery, though its design and enchantments suggest the involvement of gods or celestial forces.

Despite its breathtaking beauty and power, Stormpiercer now lies sealed beneath the Tytan Cathedral in Moorn, enclosed in a reinforced glass case. The priests of Moorn, unable to discern whether its enchantments were a divine boon or a curse, deemed the blade too dangerous to remain in mortal hands. It is said that when drawn, the air hums with static and storms seem to gather on the horizon.

Effects:

  • Weapon Enchantment: Stormpiercer is a +2 magical longsword. You gain a +2 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this weapon.

  • Lightning Strike: On a successful hit, Stormpiercer deals an additional 1d12 lightning damage.

  • Divine Judgement: Stormpiercer is imbued with a powerful enchantment that can unleash an effect akin to the Power Word Kill spell. Once per week, when you hit a creature with the sword, you can speak the creature's name with deadly intent. If the creature has 100 hit points or fewer, it is instantly slain. This feature can only be used once per week and resets at dawn seven days after its last use.

Attunement:
To attune to Stormpiercer, you must spend 10 minutes in meditation while holding the weapon. During this time, you must succeed on a DC 20 Wisdom saving throw as the blade's overwhelming power tests your will. On a success, you gain full control of its abilities. On a failure, the blade rejects your attunement, dealing 6d6 lightning damage to you and preventing further attunement attempts until after a long rest.

Drawbacks and Warnings:

  • Call of the Storm: Attuned creatures may experience strange side effects, such as crackling static in their presence, hair standing on end, or uncontrollable anger during storms.

  • Uncontrollable Power: If a creature attempts to use the Divine Judgement feature on a target with more than 100 hit points, the enchantment backfires. The wielder is instead struck by the weapon’s lightning, taking 10d12 lightning damage and being paralyzed until the end of their next turn.
