This delicate quill is made from the feather of a magical bird—its plume shimmers faintly in moonlight, and it hums with latent arcane energy. The tip never dulls, and no ink bottle is needed.
Arcane Writing (1/Day).
Once per day, as an action, you can use the Quill of Arcane Ink to inscribe invisible writing on any surface. You choose the conditions under which the writing becomes visible. Possible triggers include:
- When viewed under moonlight or a specific magical light. (e.g., Detect Magic or True Seeing)
- When touched by a specific individual or creature type.
- After a certain amount of time has passed.
- When a certain phrase is spoken nearby.
The writing remains invisible until the chosen condition is met. The writing can take the form of:
- Hidden Glyphs or Runes (requires DC 13 Intelligence [Arcana] to recognize)
- Arcane Wards (such as sigils of protection or warning)
- Secret Messages or Maps (ideal for spies, mages, and puzzle makers)
Special Use – Arcane Trapwork.
If used to write a glyph or ward (such as with glyph of warding or arcane lock), the Quill allows the spell to bypass the need for expensive ink components worth up to 25 gp, once per day.
