The Oathbrand was created not just as a weapon, but as a living testament to divine duty. The blade’s polished steel bears no inscriptions at first — but when a worthy Paladin or Cleric attunes to it, the weapon etches their sacred oath or divine ideals into its surface in radiant script only they can read.
It is said that the more fervently one holds to their creed, the brighter and sharper the blade becomes. Dozens of these blades were once gifted by the High Confessor to champions of the Dominion Church, though many have since been lost or claimed by other causes across the world.
Special Features:
- Votive Power: The sword is a +1 magical longsword.
- Oathbound Imprint: When you attune to this weapon as a Paladin or Cleric, the blade magically engraves your Oath, Domain, or Divine Tenets upon its surface. This engraving is invisible to others unless you will it visible.
- Divine Surge: When you fulfill a major tenet of your Oath or Domain during combat (DM’s discretion), the blade flares with divine light. It gains +1 bonus to damage rolls until the end of that combat. This effect stacks up to +3.
- Glory’s Flame: When the blade reaches its full +3 bonus, it emits a faint radiant glow, shedding dim light in a 10-foot radius.
