Ancient City of Khar’Azar
In the year 530 of the First Age, not long after the abyssal goddess Rhaaga descended upon the mortal world of Midora, the disparate desert clans of Agera found themselves united—albeit under ominous circumstances. This union gave rise to Khar’Azar, the "First City of the Abyss." Once a collection of feuding tribes, the city became a bastion of darkness, its high walls adorned with banners as black as midnight and its winding streets patrolled by fierce warriors. These soldiers fought not only with unwavering devotion but with a desperation born from the fear of Rhaaga's wrath. The city’s reputation grew as a place of darkness and dread, with tales of its grim practices spreading fear throughout the land.
Khar’Azar met its downfall during the Second Age, when the god Horus arrived to liberate the desert lands from Rhaaga’s influence. His conquest was relentless, and the city that once stood as a monument to the abyssal goddess was utterly destroyed, wiped from the surface of Agera as if it had never existed. Its sudden disappearance left behind countless myths and legends, with many speculating on the location of its lost ruins.
Despite centuries of exploration and scholarly investigation, the precise location of Khar’Azar remains a mystery. Some adventurers claim to have stumbled upon remnants of its dark past, but none have been able to produce verifiable evidence. Whether the city’s ruins are truly hidden by powerful magic, guarded by an unknown force, or simply lost to the sands of time remains a topic of heated debate. In the present day, during the Fourth Age, most rumors place the ruins deep within the Dreadwoods a dense and twisted forest within the desert itself—though even these claims are unconfirmed.
