Lunethrae's Letter

"To the tenants of Wenderly Farm,

I pray this letter finds you settled well enough upon the old grounds. I am pleased that you have chosen to remain and lend your strength to Harvest Town when called. Know that this decision carries weight, and I do not take it lightly. In return, I owe you plain truth about the dangers that have stirred beyond our fields.

The drow have grown bolder these past seasons. Raids that once came seldom now cut closer to the heart of the Dale. Tracks and witness accounts point to a single hand guiding them—a rising power among the shadows who names himself Raezarr T’sarran. He is no servant of Lolth, nor of those lesser cults of Kiaransalee and the like. Their movements have thinned of late, as if pressed back. This leads me, and others who watch such things, to believe Raezarr has bent or scattered their strength and gathered it beneath his own. A figure with ambition enough to unite factions that typically spill each other’s blood is not to be dismissed.

If this Raezarr follows Vhaeraun—as all signs suggest—then his designs lie in stealth, theft, and supremacy through silent blades. Those taken in the night are chosen with purpose. Some vanish from lonely roads, others from farmsteads no more isolated than your own.

It is not only the forest’s edge that must be watched. Keep your guard not just upon the shadows of trees, rocks, and hedgerows, but lift your eyes to the night sky as well. There are reports that some of Raezarr’s folk ride upon giant bats—creatures trained for silent descent. The townsfolk speak of them in frightened whispers, but rangers confirm the truth of it.

You are not meant to hunt these foes alone. Your charge is simply this: remain vigilant, and when Harvest Town calls for aid, answer with the resolve you have already shown. In return, I will continue to see that you have support, information, and every lawful protection my standing can provide.

Should you see anything amiss—strange lights in the trees, shadows crossing the moon, or travelers behaving unlike themselves—send word at once. We can ill afford ignorance with a Vhaeraunite power rising beneath our feet.

In steadfast purpose,

Lunethrae Dovetail"
