How Rosela got to Eorzea was once a mystery. If you asked her, she would simply fidget and apologize, explaining that she didn't like to talk about it.
Recently,
she's gotten more open about that detail: She was separated from her
family while escaping from Doma, separated once again from a friend
she'd planned to search for work with, and ended up wandering alone in a
new and unfamiliar land. She was eventually adopted by a kindly elderly
couple in the Shroud and stayed with them until circumstance forced her to travel
alone once again. Did you know wolves cannot climb trees?
She also formally requests that
you please do not concern yourself with her. She is not important, there
are far more important people to concern yourself with. Coincidentally, she doesn't technically have a last name. She just named herself after her father's occupation.
Rosela
has a history of wandering, searching for the source of what she calls
The Noise. Since she was a child, she's had a strange sensation in the
back of her head. It was almost like a whispering voice, but she could
never quite make out the words. As she grew older, she noticed that it
would get louder and quieter at different times. It had a tendency to
get particularly loud when she moved. And being a lifelong dance
enthusiast, Rosela ended up hearing it quite often and eventually learned to manipulate the volume and intensity of it.
After a while, she just considered it to be a weird friend of sorts. She doesn't generally tell people about it, though. They tend to look at her funny when she does.After arriving in Eorzea, Rosela noticed that The Noise was exceptionally loud by Noise standards. She still couldn't understand it, but she swore she could almost make out a word or two. Until recently, she had been wandering to where the sound was loudest and trying to figure out what it was, while also trying to figure out how to provide for herself on her own.
In the current day, she's living at the headquarters of the Verdant Wind Mercantile Company, working as the company baker. She has completely taken over the kitchen and occasionally takes naps in there, much to the dismay of her boyfriend. If you need to use the kitchen for anything, you're out of luck.
