Continued from Session 31: The Keeper.
With the new information on his mother's last cases, Amos decides to find the Hollow Men in Rattlestone. Along with Meriel and Ren, they follow Tor'in. The Hollow Men are a group of smugglers working near the River Aniene in the city. Tor'in talked to one of their number earlier when he was looking for pieces for the replica sword. Leaving his companions outside, Tor'in enters a tavern he knows the Hollow Men use, looking for his contact. Instead, he finds Sendara, who is uncharacteristically happy to see him. She greets him with a big friendly hug.
Tor'in introduces her to the others. Ren recalls that Ragor mentioned Sendara. Sendara blathers on about Ragor, Remi, and other folks she knows from Baron's City. Sendara mentions that she is doing research on the effects of different drugs while off duty. Today she is trying both Wondercaps and Dragon's Dandruff. She gives Amos some to try, and he pockets them.
Sendara introduces the group to Jenwynn, one of the smugglers she knows. Although initially suspicious of the rest of the group, Jenwynn seems happy to see Sendara. Amos tells the smuggler that he wants Kurunite for a sword. Tor'in is aware that the the material could be used to add enchantments to a blade. Jenwynn also explains that Kurunite is used to lessen the effects of raw Arcstone, and is always in high demand. There never seems to be enough supply for the Magewrights or workers in Smelting Row. She quotes Amos a price nearly equal to a year's pay. Amos asks about a discount, doing work for the Hollow Men in return. With a magical boost of alacrity from Amos, Tor'in demonstrates some of his physical prowess by throwing axes at lightning speed. Jenwynn says she talk to the Captain, and tells Amos to come back tomorrow for an answer.
Tor'in decides to stick with Sendara for the rest of the day, while the others leave Rattlestone.
The next morning, Sendara is at the Necropolis performing an autopsy with her superior, Bisha. The subject was Niman Agerson, a student at Pallida University. There were obvious signs of extensive Arcstone poisoning with blue tint to his skin and atrophied organs. His organs were also mirrored, such as his heart being on the wrong side. Sendara also noted an old injury of a missing big toe on his right foot. Niman was from Seidland, and was attending the University on a scholarship handled by the foundation through House Fournius. Concerned about the case, Sendara sought out Tor'in, and he and Ren gathered everyone at the orcish restaurant Shagrol Magra. Sendara informs them of what she is learned.
