Mask

Inês is short, only 5'4", brown eyes and black hair that falls in soft waves. She's genuinely lovely, perfectly shaped and walks with perfect confidence that it stands out and is more than a little intimidating all at once.

Mien

At first glance, Inês doesn't appear too different from her Mask. Her ruby red eyes are the most stark difference. Watching her more closely, however, reveals a slight transparency in her figure when she's standing in shadow or smoke. It's more noticeable across her extremities. Her fingertips are practically translucent in a dark room, and it becomes difficult to tell the precise length of her hair as the ends melt away to shadow.

The Public Facade

Inês has been in Anchorage for nearly five years. She's well known to be cold, distant, and terrifying. She tends to be isolated socially but has been willing to step up and take on dangerous or unpleasant tasks that the Autumn court asks of her.

Inês runs a small but well respected business as an animal trainer that she runs throughout the year. She primarily works with working dogs but when the other aspects of life and business slow down in the Winter months she also takes on animals with behavioral issues.

When things start to warm up, Inês' takes hiking and hunting tourists out into the wilderness. While she prefers the hiking clients, she has a growing reputation among the regular hunters for her tracking skill.

for whom the bell tolls,

It tolls for thee.

The Order of the Hollow Bell 🕭

Paladins carry the burden of acting as confessors and inquisitors who help balance the scales of fate and justice. Paladins serve and minster to all. They have the duty to hear and judge any petitioner who hears the Hollow Bell ring. When they do, they can offer either absolution or a path towards restitution if the petitioner is willing to take it.

the Hollow Bell

The Token of a Paladin is a bronze handbell that is missing its clapper. Inês' is large, perhaps 9 inches wide at the base, and appears to be heavily patinated bronze. Those who are suffering from a mental or social Condition, recently suffered a breaking point, or simply someone who is seeking help and counsel can hear it ring.

Role Playing Hooks

019fe855-99df-73b7-9455-6dbdef214c24.pngA cold Professional:

Inês has been serving in the Autumn Court for five years. She's never refused an Autumn's request for aid in that time, or a request from one of her superiors to help those outside the court. Some might say she's as cold as Winter but she gets the job done.

The Confessor:

Inês is a Paladin in the Order of the Hollow Bell. Her duty has her serving as a minister to any who need a judge. Those who are suffering from mental or social Conditions, recently suffered a breaking point, or simply someone in need of help and counsel can hear the toll of the Hollow Bell, and are drawn to her for aide.

Scholar of Utility:

She may not be an academic like many of her Autumn peers, but Inês has an avid interest in learning and applying contracts as well as learning more esoteric non-Elemental twists on contracts. She has publicly offered to trade her services and knowledge to any Freeholder who can teach her practical knowledge on the topic.

On a Dare:

Inês is intimidating and seems difficult to approach casually. However, she's never actually harmed freeholder even if she did point a steak knife at a Spring courtier who tried to give her a bouquet of flowers.

Troublesome Creatures:

Having problems with an animal? Inês' daily hustle includes dog training and working as a wilderness and hunting guide for tourists during the season. She also volunteers with S&R and is on collegial terms with the local Department of Fish and Game. When someone goes missing or a wild animal is causing problems in the area, she's on the ground with a dog to help.

Ironside Communities:

Inês finds socializing outside the closely bound Freeholders a way to relax without the obligations that she holds always resting on her shoulders. Sometimes she'll visit places frequented by the military community if only for the sense of familiarity and comfort it gives her. Other times she'll connect on a professional level with other wilderness experts.

Arcadia

a1f05694-e0e4-4261-b802-c18280097239.jpgThe Golden Hero had an elaborate game set up- an epic battle between good and evil where he (good) would always inevitably triumph. When he took people he'd put them on one side of the game or the other. Those chosen to be 'good' became little more than cardboard cutouts who were there to carry out the Hero's grand strategies and die gloriously for the cause of Truth and Righteousness. Those who were assigned to be on the side of 'evil' were left with more of their mind and autonomy- so long as they played within the rules of the game.

When Inês was approached by the Hero and offered a chance 'be good', she told the Hero to fuck off. He dragged her back off to Arcadia and made her a villain in his story. For years, she fought the long wars against the Hero's forces, constantly being pushed back again and again. They'd only regain some of the lost ground when the Hero got bored and distracted from playing the game for a time. Inês became the right hand of another Lost who served as their General, led the rearguard of the army. She consistently fought to defend their troops and people against the Hero’s onslaught and horrible odds.

In her last battle, Inês held a narrow gatehouse of the keep long enough for the rest of their forces to sneak out another way and retreat. Dozens of the Hero's soldiers fell to her until the Hero himself came to dislodge her. She fought so viciously and desperately that she made even Him, who was just playing the game, flinch. For making him feal that brief instant of fear, he blasted her. With his golden light her shadows were burned away, and she was cast out- a playing piece thrown off the board in a furious tantrum. But as in all good tales, without a body left behind, the villain isn't really dead. Inês was a tiny shred of shadow, lost in the Hedge, and clawed her way back to a semblance of humanity and earth.
