The Seldarine (Elvish for "fellowship of brothers and sisters of the wood") is the elven pantheon of gods mainly worshiped during the Age of Elvenkind and later became the basis of many future religions. Also know as the "Old Gods", many elves still worship the pantheon to this day.
Symbol
The symbol of the Seldarine is one of unity, with the tree supporting the sun and the sun feeding the tree.
Rites
Each member of the Seldarine is represented by both
male and female forms. There were statues of the Seldarine in either
both their male and female forms or in a single androgynous form. Some
gods even had more than three forms, including non-humanoid forms.
In
fact, most elves find the human obsession with biological sex and
gender roles to be limiting and not befitting of a deity, who was beyond
mortal definitions. All gods were to be respected, not squeezed into a
role that presented them as little more than powerful versions of
mortals at best or spoiled children at worst.
Temples
Not much is left of the once grand Seldarine temples. The temples of the Seldarine were step pyramids built from stone. The walls were said to be engraved with stories about the gods that served as the particular patrons of the temple, usually those related to the local priests.
