For the Dark Seldarine version see - Eilistraee
Eilistraee is the elven goddess of moonlight, beauty, and song. The patron of entertainers, bards, the arts, and everything beautiful and creative in all genders. A free-spirited and kind-hearted goddess, with a fiery streak in her personality, she bestows luck and spreads joy to her followers. She encourages her followers to venture into the unknown.
The circumstances of Eilistraee's birth remain a highly debated topic with worshipers and scholars alike, with the most common belief being she is the child of Corellon, birthed by Araushnee. However, with neither of them being directly tied to a moon related domain, many speculated that it was actually Sehanine, goddess of the moon, who gave Araushnee the child.
Most of elvenkind do not associate with the typical gender-roles that humans assign to themselves, and the same goes for their gods. Seldarine gods are nonbinary, said to be able to switch sex whenever they deemed. Because of this, poly-amorous relationships were common among the elven gods, so it is not outside the realm of belief that Araushnee and Sehanine bonded at some point during their godhood. Those that believe in this side of the story state that to avoid scandal within Corellon's court, Araushnee raised her new child as if she had it with her husband.
Before the Desolate Cascade, many who followed the Seldarine saw this as simply a theory to explain why Eilistraee was so intertwined with the moon, but recently the sparse numbers of elves have stopped many from denying the theory as nothing but pure fact. To followers of the Seldarine, whether you believe the story is true or not, is up to your own volition, one story not being favored over another.
