Timeline of the World Weep

This is a timeline

Age of Lost Omens (AoLO) 4,606 — 4,723

Death of Aroden to the creation of the World Weep

  • The First Hero's March marked a battle where all of Golorion's strongest heroes and villains put aside their differences to wage war against the Alchemist Mathesis, who posed a credible threat that she was preparing to destroy all of civilization. This March failed and resulted in the death of every particpant aside from Mathesis.

  • The alchemical experiment, which destroyed the Boneyard, killed the Goddess Pharasma, redirected all dead souls to flow towards itself, and put in place a planar barrier between the Universe and all other Planes in the Multiverse.

This event marked the end of the Age of Lost Omens and the start of the Age of Collapse.

Age of Collapse (AoC) 4,723 — 5,725

Birth of the Worldweep to the death of Mathesis

  • The guildmaster, Adrianna, opened the Harbor of Hearts adventuring guild, where Marked could accept bounties for a variety of different missions and tasks. These heroes would eventually develop into the heroes that participated in the Second Hero's March.

  • An Umbral Dragon with connections to the Alchemist Mathesis assaulted the township of Snowmelt Harbor. The adventurers of the township held the dragon off despite it being stronger than any threat they had ever faced before. This event marked the first time the adventurers of the Harbor of Hearts had evidence that they had the attention of Mathesis.

  • The Marked community created two settlements from the ground up, away from the protections that Adrianna, the guildmaster of the Harbor of Hearts, was able to extend. This proved to be the town's doom, as when Mathesis's gaze fell upon the two settlements, she sent Alchemical Warfare down from the sky to utterly destroy the settlements and ensure they stay destroyed for generations to come.

The surviving Marked traveled back to Moonlit Village and Snowmelt Harbor, where Adrianna protected the Marked from Mathesis's wrath.

  • The adventures of the Harbor of Hearts led an expedition to a Dawnsilver mine. Here they met multiple events and powerful creatures, culminating in a confrontation with a Demongate Collasus that unleashed many soulshards, displaying memories and other clues that would lead the Marked gently towards their next destination, Absalom, where further treasure troves of information were promised.

  • The Second Wildlands Expedition marked the Harbor of Hearts setting sail for the city of Absalom on the Isle of Kortos. Along the way, they came across the Returned, alchemical recreations of deceased Marked adventurers who had the sole purpose of killing the Marked and collecting various strange items and objects. The Second Expedition ended when the Marked assaulted a stronghold of Returned on the island, and found evidence that the Returned were transporting Orichalcum to the town of Kerse, located just off the shores of the World Weep.

  • The Marked adventurers of the Harbor of Hearts followed the clues they found in the second expedition, leading them to the discovery that the Returned were returning objects of significance up a supply chain from Absalom to the town of Kerse, off the shores of the World Weep. The Marked made alliance with the nearby town of Macridi, and found a variety of powerful Dragon Patrons that were willing to assist the Marked with their war effort against the World Weep. Using the power gained from conquering a stockpile of LIch Soul Cages and the dying embers of a corrupted Prime Dragon Patron, the Marked were able to end the third Expedition by opening a path directly to the World Weep itself.

  • The event where Marked Adventurers of the Harbor of Hearts marched to the Isle of Terror, where the World Weep was located, sent an elite party inside the Weep, and defeated the Alchemist Mathesis before her ascension to a god-like being.

This event marked the end of the Age of Collapse and the start of the Age of Renewal.

Age of Renewal (AoR) 5,725 — 5,800

From the death of Mathesis to the present day

  • This event, which marked the new cycle of the afterlife and rebirth and saw the World Weep rise into the Golarion sky as a new celestial body, let the world know of the success of the Second Hero's March and the death of Mathesis. This event marked the day the world knew it was safe to rise up and rebuild their societies with no fear of retaliation from the ever-watching Alchemist and her deadly weapons that she would unleash against any settlement or structure that grew too large.

  • Over the skies of the Mana Wastes, pieces of the lost city of Alkenstar, fragments of strange crystals fall from the sky, and even the occasional outsider from any of the various Planes of the Multiverse begins to fall from the sky. Soon, this phenomenon spreads to the entirety of the continent of Garund, and then eventually the rest of the globe. Over time, these crystals come to be known as weepshards, due to the effects of handling them without a seemingly random bonding ritual, often resulting in the same type of madness that came from coming too close to the World Weep in the previous age.

  • The fetchling brothers Adrian and Arlo declare an reopening of the Harbor of Hearts adventuring guild in the town of Moonlit Junction in the Manawastes, to handle the relics of Old Alkenstar, which had suddenly reappeared in scattered pieces all across the Spell Scar Desert, and could only be safely handled by a group of people known as the Shardbound, who had come in contact with Weepshards and bonded with them in a unknown process.
