Joining the action in the WorldWeep campaign is easy and fast. There are no approval processes or applications to fill out. Here's what you need to do (and you might have already completed some of it!):
Join the Discord Channels via Role
The game runs entirely on Discord, so you'll need to join: https://discord.gg/pathfinder2e
When you get in, please pay careful attention to the rules, as they are very important.
Participation in WorldWeep requires that you take the role specific to it. Open the #player-sheet. Select the 😭 reaction. If you wish to GM, you may also select the 🎲 emoji.
This will open up access to the WorldWeep channels. The first channels to check out are:
🧰│worldweep-resources will have most immediately pertinent links, including the Story Guide (wwcs).
📝│worldweep-notice will have patch notes and recent news or errata.
📯│worldweep-saga will have story developments.
The 『Harbor of Hearts』💖 Category is for bounty posts and most OOC discussion.
The 『Moonlit Junction』🌙 Category is the RP space.
What is Worldweep?
This is a PF2E community game that plays in real-time. Adventurers live and work out of Moonlit Junction, a post-post apocalyptic (year 5801 AR) Roleplay space and home base in the Mana Wastes from which they venture out to go on ”bounties” - oneshot-esque sessions arranged by GMs for PCs to gain experience. More information on bounties can be found in the Living World Rules (wwlw) under Section 2.2.
Experience and quest rewards are dispensed primarily in the form of stars (⭐🎃❄) and bonus rewards- specific to the bounty fulfilled. The Gold to Star table is in the Living World Rules (wwlw) document under Section 2.3.
In Worldweep, "stars" are the primary meta currency, along with indicating the difficulty level and reward of a bounty (at a 1 to 1 ratio, meaning a ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ star bounty rewards 5 stars), and the progress of characters. Stars can either be rewarded or applied to a character, granting them progress towards the next level and an amount of gold based on the level of the character gaining the stars. Stars can also be banked which grants them to the player rather than their character; this means they can be applied later, to a different PC of the player, or used for various meta purchases, recovering lost items, or healthcare services for their character.
Characters level up when they reach 20 stars, and only 5 stars can be gained per character in a week. The only exception is when a character is behind the most progressed characters, in which case a character can receive a maximum of 10 until they have caught up.
Stars are primarily rewarded through bounties, but can also be earned by assisting others with downtime activities (1/PC/Week), roleplaying your character in the discord (3/Player/Week), or GMing a bounty of your own (3+/Bounty). See Section 2.3 of the WWLW for more details.
Create a Character
Follow the Character Creation rules in the WorldWeep Living World Rules (available at Rules). Characters behind the maximum level get help leveling up due to the Adventurer's Guild, granted stars (and gold) for lower levels! (Living World Rules - Guild Training Section 3.1.1)
In addition to the base material described in the Rules, check out the Unlocked Material for this game. Much of this material was added to the story by the actions of players before you. Your character will begin in Moonlit Junction in the Mana Wastes, so you might want to check out the setting information as you build your backstory. There are plenty of places you can be from, though!
You do not need to upload your character anywhere or get approval. If you wish, you may announce your character in #heroines-heart.
Find a Bounty
Bounties are WorldWeep's one-shots/adventures in the Pathfinder 2e system over Discord, either run live or through an play-by-post (PBP) system where the action happens over multiple days!
Check out the #bounty-board and look for a bounty to apply to. GMs can pick whichever players they wish for their games, so make sure to read what they say in the prompt when you ask to join. You can also start chatting in #harbor-of-hearts. Often, if you ask for a game at a particular level or for a particular prompt, a GM will open one up.
Bounties are rated in difficulty not only by level but by number of stars. Playing up or down a level will increase or lower the star count by that level for your PC- a level 3 ⭐⭐⭐ is ⭐⭐ for a level 4 PC or ⭐⭐⭐⭐ for a level 2 PC. The full description of difficulties and risk can be found under Section 2.2.3 of the Living World Rules (wwlw) document. ⭐⭐⭐ bounties are the most common, with moderate ratings for encounters. It is advised to read through the difficulty tiers and set expectations accordingly.
Gain Experience
When you make your first character and until you catch up to the current maximum level, your PC receives bonus stars. For each level below the Adventurer's Guild, you receive 5 bonus stars and their proportionate gold. If the AG is level 7 and you level up from level 4 to level 5, upon reaching level 5 you will receive 10 free stars and 120 GP on that character, as you are 2 levels below the AG. Then you will only need 10 more stars to level. More information about this training bonus can be found in the Living World Rules (wwlw) under Section 3.1.1.
Note that this does not apply while in progress to your next level, only at the moment your character levels up. The AG will always level up at the start of the week, and there will always be indication of it happening ahead of time.
While catching up to the maximum level, you gain some additional benefits:
- Prestige is not required until leveling to the maximum level.
- Your PC can earn maximum stars for the week from 2 bounties, as opposed to only 1. However, you are still subject to the same restrictions on bonus rewards.
- You can apply up to 10 stars per week to your character, rather than only 5. Note that this cannot increase your character beyond the maximum level.
If the maximum level were level 8 with 15 stars, and you were level 8 with 0 stars, and you completed a ⭐⭐⭐⭐ star and a ⭐⭐⭐ bounty, you would gain 7 stars onto your character. Normally, without this mechanic, you would instead gain ⭐⭐⭐⭐ stars onto your character and ⭐⭐ banked stars.
Maximum level and Adventure Guild Bonus stars are periodically updated here.
📜| worldweep-receipts is a place where many players track their experience each Sunday. Pinned in the channel is also the star-gold table.
Have fun!
Go play in the bounty and follow the guidelines for updating your character. There is no special accounting requirement and you're not required to upload your char sheet anywhere. You only really need a receipt posted when you are buying or trading items. See the Rules document for all the details, but we try to keep the upkeep and accounting requirements as light as possible.
