World Weep Opening History

The nation-state of Nantambu put its pride and defenses in the Magaambya academy, one of the most prestigious schools of magic in all of Golarion. When the cities' Tempest-Sun Mages and other forces participated in the First Heroes' March, never to return,  and the Watcher's Stone let the city witness the birth of the world weep and the beginning of the end, the city scrambled to assemble secondary protections and militias for what would come next. Although these defenses would prove to be ineffectual, their scouts still traveled all across the Mwgani Expanse, with a few even ranging out of the region entirely to warn their furthest neighbors. These heroes saved thousands of lives as they prompted those they reached to leave their crowded cities before the Alchemist’s wrath rained down on them.

Age of Collapse History — Era of Oration

With the city of Nantambu destroyed, many who foresaw this eventuality scrambled to preserve whatever they could, scattering its countless relics and millennia of various knowledge across the expanse. Like those who had survived the previous dark ages of the previous millennium, in addition to the preservation of physical history, the preservation of oral history blossomed amongst the people. The various villages in the centuries of the Age of Collapse designated trusted individuals with special jobs, the Story-Singers, who would go from village to village and ensure the histories of the world were preserved through their arts.  Much like how the original Magaambya started as a simple gathering place of orators, the descendants of the Age of Collapse made their own centers of knowledge without tempting Mathesis' destructive ire towards the nation.

Age of Renewal History

When the Ascension of the World Weep was witnessed in the sky, the various settlements of the old lands of Nantambu gathered their Story-Singers once more in the reported space of the Old Magaambya, and devised a grand curriculum in a multi-year-long community project. The city of Nantambu was rebuilt, different, but still recognizable as the Song-Wind City, and with the assistance of civil wizards who had been practicing their trade in secret for decades, a new version of the Magammbya academy once again graced the world.

Government

The city of Nantambu elects a magistrate-mayor who serves as judge and federal executive, who holds his own democratically elected council to ensure the various voices of the city and surrounding settlements are heard and considered. One such chair is the High Sun-Mage of Magammbya, who ensures the academy with its sun-mage protector's has a high level of communication with the rest of the community.

Points of Interest

  • The New City of Nantambu shares its title with the Old City lost to Mathesis's wrath, the Song-Wind City, for its myriad of magical chimes that attract bards and other musical wonder seekers from around the globe.
  • The outlying settlements of Nantambu are numerous, with each celebrating its own independence yet shared culture under the nation of Nantambu. These villages are fiercely independent and celebrate their alliances and unity with the rest of the nation through representatives of the Nantambu council, who facilitate coordination of defenses and trade.
  • The Academy of New Magaambya celebrates its new culture with the twenty spirals for the twenty villages and their Story-Singers who preserved the knowledge and culture of the previous ages.

Organizations Within

  • The Story-Singer Collective is a number of bards and others who dabble in the bardic ways, who do various works of charity in Nantambu and across Garund, collecting and spreading various stories and cultures as they go. These Story-Singers hold an emissary position in many countries and even enjoy a protected status from the Free Captains and a few select other groups as long as they do not meddle in affairs.
  • The Magaambya academy is a vast arm of the nation of Nanatambu and serves as civic-wizards and protectors for the nation. Although graduates often return to their settlements of origin or strike out new across Garund, a fair number stay in some capacity at Nanatambu and serve in pseudo-governmental roles as directed by the Magistrate-Mayor and their council.
  • Although trading and exports isn't as large an industry in Nantambu as it is in other nations, the state still hosts some smaller guilds, companies, and mercenary bands that operate between the rest of the Mwgani Expanse, Vidrian, and the Free Captains and Merchant Princes of the Shackles and Sodden Lands.

Major Conflicts

  • Nantambu in the new age has set itself apart as a nation of peace and low expansionism, and has enjoyed the fruits of these polices with several of it's surrounding nations, but some conflict still finds its way to the nation.
  • The Boggard-Empire of the Sodden Lands has hosted several attempted invasions and serves as the primary antagonist of the nation of Nantambu and its protector of Sun-Mages. With the destruction of some of the outlying settlements in recent years, some of the populace call for a more severe stance and the rise of a militia, although the Magistrate Mayor has yet to approve of any of these petitions.
  • The dredges of the servants of Angazhan, primarily the shattered remnants of Usaro, sometimes launch minor incursions against settlements, but have had much less frequency or severity than the Boggards.

Events in the Age of Renewal

  • The founding of New Magaambya and the rise of the surrounding township of New Nantambu were the largest events of the early years of the Age of Renewal. These days are celebrated with festivities and magics that rival the largest celebrations of the more wealthy nations of the world, despite Nantambu's smaller economy.
