The Menders were formed during the Second Heroes' March with the goal of providing free or at-cost healthcare to any Marked who needed it. Like other organizations created to support the campaign against the Alchemist, the Menders took their victory in stride and turned their eyes to serving the world at large. They quickly spread across Avistan and the Inner Sea region, opening clinics and hospitals and even connecting with established groups of travelling battlefield medics to establish a network of doctors willing to venture into conflict zones and remote corners of the world to provide medical care to those who most desperately need it. This rapid growth and the medical education they provide have made the Menders a cornerstone of society in the Age of Renewal, ensuring that the rapid growth of a world reclaiming itself is supported by affordable, accessible, high-quality healthcare.

But in recent years, some more paranoid minds have started to believe that the Menders are too good to be true. Why would this massive apparatus operate just to take care of people? Out of the goodness of their hearts? It would be painfully naïve to believe that. Some have raised questions about the Menders' funding, and allege the organization is secretly run by a lich harvesting everyone's blood for some nefarious ritual. There are even rumors that the organization is haunted by a shade of Pharasma herself, returned from oblivion to hunt the foul undead that taints the land.

Representatives of the organization are quick to point out that the Menders have historically been operated by prolific adventurers who have donated their vast fortunes and many treasures to the cause. And even though Dink Darkeyes was cursed in exceptional circumstances not of his choosing, what he did choose was to devote his undeath to the betterment of the living. His dedication to the Menders is beyond question, and it isn't anyone's place to speculate on his personal affairs beyond that. But despite this transparency, the accusations remain. And even those who reject the flagrant conspiracy theories have noticed those closest to the Menders' famously surly leader seem strangely on edge as of late...
