The surki are native to the Darklands, including the Darklands of Garund. They are attracted to the magical energy spilling out of the Mana Wastes which nourishes them and a large population of surki live beneath the surface. Although most surki adventurers stay well below the surface, some find the unique magical auras of the land above to be irresistible. Others are simply curious explorers.
Surki are available to all characters. The beetle animal companion provides a suitable stat block for those who wish to ride a speedle into battle.
