Perspective
Through his experiences, Dex has become unsympathetic to fear and death - it is all a cycle: life, death, back to life, undeath - just as water may become ice or steam - these are simply transitions. Stop all your whining!
Ideals
We are all freaks, we all live and die. Nobody should be judged unfairly or looked down upon for being different.
Temptation
Something in Dex's Fey blood makes him easily lured and distracted by (even gain his friendship through) spring water, honey, fresh cream, and candy. Dex has a tendency to be distracted by attractive men that he meets along his journey.
Bad Habit
He... speaks... very... slowly... to... idiots. (Being an idiot is different than being odd - per ideals).

Driven by a thirst for knowledge around the "grey area" between living and unliving.
Fears
While Dex does not fear inevitable death, he is paranoid of paladins and their ‘light’ which he believes will contaminate his darkness. He refuses to be in a close proximity to them, though his pride prevents him from saying why. He often plays it off as not wanting to be around ‘those holier than thou do gooders’.
