Tethyr Knighthood

The official military and law enforcement for the entire Kingdom of Tethyr. The Knighthood has many outposts stationed all over the continent that serve as an active standing military as well as a national law enforcement. They mostly can be seen at major borders, ports, and trade routes, as well as the major cities. A majority of smaller cities, villages, and hamlets are handled by Knights of the Nation-states. The Tethyr Knights always have authority over a local knight.

Nation-States and even smaller Lords over cities can have their own knighthood. Referred to as Bannermen, these knights may wear the colors and sigil’s of their Lords but are always “outranked” by a Tethyr Knight. Due to this, there is usually a noticeable tension between Bannermen and Tethyr Knights.

The Tethyr knights are always labeled in a blue banner with a silver Steer. It is sometimes worn as a tunic or attached as a flag, but it is required that a Tethyr Knight always be marked in some way.

Ranks are organized as so:

Knight- base level foot soldier, usually equipped with full plate armor, a Longsword, and shield. They can be a variant specialist as an Archer or Artillery (catapult or trebuchet) depending on station.

Sergeant- Responsible for up to 10 knight's. Usually mounted, with full plate armor and a pike.

Captain- Responsible for up to 100 Knights and 10 Sergeants, they are usually in charge of a towns law enforcement. This is the highest rank you will see on a battlefield. It is common for Captains to be in more relaxed leather armor and have specialty weapons like rapiers or axes. It is also not uncommon to see a Captain assigned as a temporary sherif to a smaller town without a strong militia in order to help enforce laws.

Commander- Responsible for up to 1,000 knights, Commanders are in charge of regions, over seeing several cities and trade routes. They are usually stationed at major outposts and very rarely seen in combat. There are exceptions however as the major Metropolitan cities have their own Commander due to the size of the cities.

General- There are 5 Generals in Tethyr, one assigned to each Nation-State to ensure each Nation-state is adhering to national law and retaining loyalty to the Tethyr crown. They will work closely with Nation-State militia leaders.
