Prince Edrador Steelrun was actually killed while venturing through The Fog in an attempt to prove himself. After his death, his likeness was taken by Ygorl to manipulate an adventuring party.
Prince Edrador Steelrun is the Crown Prince of the Kingdom of Tethyr. He is also the first of the royal bloodline to be born with innate magic in 4 generations. As such, he feels like he must become a powerful sorcerer in order to gain the respect of his people. He spends much of his time traveling with a small group of highly trained guards, trying to find teachers and perform magical tasks in order to show that he can be a capable ruler. This however, causes him to neglect his duties in preparing to become a king. The people see him as a child desperate to prove himself to his father, who seems to care more about drinking and pleasurable company than to taking care of the people of his kingdom. Last offical word of the Prince was of him taking a group into the Fog in order to find a way to dispel it. Offical reports state that the entire party was killed, including Prince Edrador. Although many people have reported seeing the Prince still alive and traveling, no report has been confirmed by authorities.
