The Tideless Chain is a small nation-state just north of Edolas. It is a chain of islands that spikes from the sea with towering mountains which is covered completely in snow all year round. Diversity is few due to the harsh nature of the cold climate, only Dwarves and a few humans can stand the extreme temperatures and frequent blizzards. Constant high winds and its 3 mile high altitude make it almost impossible for anything to fly except for a dragon.
Even though the nation-state is a part of The Kingdom of Tethyr, it is completely devoid of Tethyr knights or political influence. It is ruled over by Millidajalum The Grand, a female Ancient Silver Dragon. The Royal Family doesn't dare interfere or attempt to enforce government on the Tideless Chain as most of the Lords and Ladys of the towships are also Silver Dragon, Millidajalum's children.
Millidajalum, or Queen Milli as the locals call her, is a kind and truly fair leader. She has refused the title of Queen as the people have tried to crown her many times, pointing out that the Royal family couldn't stop them from becoming independent. But Milli insists that the Tideless Chain remain a part of Tethyr for the benefit of the humanoids that live there.
Crime in the Tideless Chain doesn't exist. No soldiers are needed to enforce laws, and no border patrols are needed as no one dare attack a region of never-ending winter under the rule of several Silver Dragons. The people are very welcoming and are willing to share anything and everything with a wayward traveler. Do to the amazing hospitality, many travelers who spend more then a few days usually end up staying.
