Irian, the Eternal Dawn is a plane suffused with positive energy and life. There are dozens of layers within Irian, and each and every one of them is a vision of life, growth, and hope. It is sometimes referred to as the Plane of Light, and whilst this is an accurate description, it also embodies the concept of creation. The light of Irian strengthens living creatures, and weakens undead that are sustained by the negative energy of Mabar.

Healing spells are more powerful when cast in Irian, and spells that deal necrotic damage are more difficult to cast. The light of Irian illuminates the entire plane, there is no natural darkness there, and spells and other magical effects that seek to create darkness fail. The plane itself seems to want life to succeed, and all living creatures heal remarkably quickly when they are in Irian, and disease and poison have a harder time getting a foothold.

Irian is the crucible of creation within the cosmology of Eberron. Most of the planes are relatively structured, even Dal Quor is relatively stable despite being shaped by the dreams of mortals. Mabar and Irian break this trend. Mabar endlessly corrupts and consumes fragments of the other planes, and if it continued to do so without anything balancing it, it would consume all of reality. Thankfully, every time Mabar consumes a fragment of a plane, a new planar seed forms in Irian.

These planar seeds form small layers in Irian, populated only by the native spirits of Irian. Over time, the seed grows and evolves to more closely emulate the plane it is destined to join, and it's inhabitants change to fit the roles they will fill. As the seed matures, it gradually loses the properties of Irian, until eventually all of it's ties to Irian are severed and it fully becomes part of it's destination plane. These new regions are rarely a perfect match for the region that was lost to Mabar, sentient creatures cannot be replaced and the planar seeds don't contain buildings. Irian is the plane of life, and it repopulates a region with wildlife and plant life, but intelligent life needs to be reintroduced after the seed fully joins it's destination plane.

Irian breaks other rules that generally apply to the other planes. Usually, immortal spirits cannot reproduce in Eberron, there are a fixed number of them that can never be destroyed or created. Mabar, however, corrupts immortals and consumes them much like it does regions of the planes, and so Irian creates new immortals to replace those lost to Mabar. All of these immortals begin as spirits of Irian, and as the planar seed matures and becomes more like it's destination, the immortals do too. Irian doesn't make any judgements about the morality of the immortals it creates, if demons need to be replaced, then Irian will create demons.

Irian is home to a variety of celestials, from angels to Kirin. Much as the angels of the other planes represent positive aspects of their planar concepts, the angels of Irian all represent hope and compassion, and they take their roles very seriously in the creation and tending of the planar seeds. Every mortal creature has a representation in Irian, a spirit formed from their hopes and joys, a tiny echo of who they are. These spirits aren't intelligent and aren't even really alive, but they are all tied to mortal souls, and mortals draw hope and inspiration from them. When a mortal dies, their connection to Irian is severed and their echoes in irian slowly begin to fade. Occasionally, several of these fading echoes will join together to form a new, sentient spirit, and these spirits populate the plane and help to maintain the planar seeds, as well as become the new immortals that will populate the seeds when they mature.
