Lady Greykell was born of the ir'Ryc family, one of the lesser noble families in Cyre. She joined the Cyran Army, and rose to the rank of captain during the Last War. She became one of the few female captains on Cyre's southern front, and used brilliant but unorthodox strategies to defeat her foes. She inspired her troops, and was praised by even the queen herself. In the later years of the war, she joined the Fifth Crown as Crown Wolf, where she worked alongside other members of Cyran Special Forces.
Greykell's father always told her that the blood of dragons runs in their family, but she's always suspected the truth is something darker.
In 994 YK, Greykell was assigned a squad with a special mission: follow a Karrnathi squad into Droaam, determine their reason for going after the ruins of the Kech Nasaar, and leave no Karrns alive. She took an elite squad of 7 other Cyrans into Droaam on the Karrns trail, but were ambushed by the Karrns at the ruins. However, both groups were ambushed by the Znir Pact. The gnolls brought the survivors of both squads (Greykell, a warforged named Mace , and a dwarf named Duregh for the Cyrans, and Lord Suradin and three other Karrns) to their rulers, the Daughters of Sora Kell.
The Daughters were playing games with the foreign soldiers, and let them loose in the Dhakaani ruins beneath the Great Crag to find the artifact they were originally looking for. Eventually this lead to Greykell acquiring the Kur Leshaat Nasaar, and in so doing destroying the vampire Suradin, and taking out her own squad. Greykell later awakened with the Daughters of Sora Kell, and was escorted out of Droaam by a contingent of gnolls. The Mourning had occurred while she was in the Great Crag, and she returned to her home to find it destroyed. She ended up at New Cyre when Oargev ir'Wynarn gave his first speech.
Shortly after this, Greykell traveled to Sharn, where she took on a role as peacekeeper in the district of High Walls.
