Zaeran is a member of the Great Pack and one of Zaeurl's children (literally in this case). He is one of the few members of the pack that spends most of their time in their humanoid form, rather than living as a beast, and this has allowed him to take on a leadership role within the pack, as well as facilitating communication with the other forces in Droaam.
Though "Children of Zaeurl" is often used to refer to the Great Pack as a whole, or to the werewolves within it, Zaeran is actually one of the Zaeurl's children.
