Mysterious Monoliths under construction

SHARN—Morgrave Unversity anthropologist Guthra Maranech displayed astonishing drawings depicting several thousand-foot-tall ovoid structures being constructed deep in the Sarlonan wilderness.

Maranech told a packed lecture hall on Zol that while he was uncertain as to the monoliths' purpose, the strange energy that supplies the Inspired of Riedra with their mental powers seemed to be fluctuating wildly in the area around these structures. "When we discuss purpose, we enter the realm of conjecture," Maranech said. "But based on the energy readings, I would speculate that perhaps these monoliths are some sort of battery or amplifier for psionic energy."

Through the two hour lecture, Maranech noted that his depictions of the structures are nearly a year old, drawn whilst on a covert visit to the Unity of Riedra. He was detained by Inspired security forces shortly after entering the valley of the monoliths.

"Some of the details I observed on this trip suggest that the monoliths' may have some form of quasibiological mobility," he stated. "Consequently, it's possible that they aren't even in the valley anymore."

Maranech's return to Sharn marks the conclusion of nearly four months of negotiations between the Brelish government and ambassadors from Riedra. He reported that the Inspired treated him well during his detention, and were even gracious enough to give him access to Riedran texts for study.

Representatives of Adar, another nation on the continent of Sarlona, have called for the Unity of Riedra to make public the purpose of these stone objects, and to allow neutral observers to monitor events. "Given the Riedrans oppressive policies towards the Kalashtar remaining in Sarlona and elsewhere, we cannot help but wonder what new horrors these monoliths might represent," he said.
