The Ashbound are an extremist Druidic Tradition that are found mostly in the northern Eldeen Reaches.
The Ashbound oppose civilisation's encroachment on the natural world, and they despise agriculture, cities, and all the ways in which civilisation seeks to tame or bend the natural world to its whims. They view arcane magic as a corruptive force that damages the natural world. As such, the Ashbound eskew metalworking and industry, and any gear the Ashbound use will have been crafted from wood and animal parts.
In frontier regions, the Ashbounds opposition to civilisation often manifests as guerilla attacks against encroaching settlements and making brutal examples of poachers and those who hunt animals for reasons other than survival. They also oppose the dragonmarked houses and target their holdings whenever possible, destroying equipment, releasing bound elementals and murdering their employees. They are a threat to civilisation, but they are relatively contained to the northern Reaches and have only begun ranging beyond that in the years following the Eldeen Secession, where the Ashbound joined forces with the Wardens of the Wood to remove Aundair from the Reaches.
The Ashbound particularly despise fiends, and they destroy fiends wherever they encounter them. Their territory in the northern Reaches makes them an excellent buffer for the Demon Wastes, as they catch and destroy many of the fiends that manage to evade the Ghaash'kala. Despite this, there is a longstanding feud between the Ashbound and the Ghaash'kala based on something that happened centuries ago.
