Yrlag is the second largest city in the Shadow Marches, and is located at the mouth of the Crescent Bay on Khorvaire's west coast. It is the closest settlement to the Demon Wastes, the southern shore of the Wastes being just a short sail away. Yrlag is located within a Lamannia manifest zone, which makes the land around the city exceedingly fertile, and the river that the city rests on is rich with fish and other aquatic life.
Yrlag is effectively governed and run by House Tharashk, much like Zarash'ak. Due to the Ghaash'kala, sailing to the Demon Wastes is far safer than trying to enter via The Labyrinth, which is the only land route into the region. As such, expeditions into the Demon Wastes often begin in Yrlag, where supplies are plentiful. Sailing into the Wastes isn't easy, by any means, but Tharashk have put the resources in to work out the safe routes through the Demonglass Spires that wreck ships, and they protect this knowledge.
The city also periodically sends supplies to the Tharashk outpost of Blood Crescent.
