The Break

The titanic breakwater of Vralkast's harbour is no natural structure, yet it bears no marks of construction either. It has no joints, no bricks, no mortar. It is a colossal slate wall grown from beneath the waves by the Stoneseer's Circle. Along its length, both above and below the water, are open gates to allow vessels in and out, guarded by the Wyrd Vigil.

The main gate is flanked by a lighthouse, a tower peaked with an everburning flame, serving as a beacon to ships all across the Sea of Sorrow.

When a titanic threat from the sea threatens the city, the gates are closed, and the Quor-Toa release their nightmarish gods. When the threat has been defeated, and the god releashed, the gates are once again opened, and life returns to the city. Nobody lives on the exterior of the Break, but the district of Cartilay is located within it.
