27. Therapy

Bit scuffed today, I had to switch to taking notes in Foundry mid-session as Kanka locked up and then moved it all back at the end.

Early Morning of the 24th Sypheros, 998 YK

  • First session without Becca or Chantalyn for like 3 months
  • I miss them already
  • I do not have a voice today, but this group is Khorvaire's Greatest Circus and they can talk enough for me
  • Ell does the recap, earning Damien an Improve on his least developed theme
  • We cold open, back in time a little bit, to just after they destroyed Astalur, the Stained Saint and are getting the victims out of the gallery, when the cops show up!
  • They're being interviewed by the Blackened Book, specifically Warden Balan Cord and Hasal Dalian
  • "Shall we start with what you were all doing here tonight?"
  • Nerys says they were saving these people! Yashira already has her head in her hands
  • "I want to know why you weren't on the case! People were going missing!"
  • Oh Nerys
  • Damien tries to damage control.
  • He tries to explain that they learned of the Idol, and didn't want to wait for the gears of the-
  • Yashira makes some noises in protest
  • "The very organised cogs of justice"
  • That was what he was going to say
  • Hasal asks how they learned of the Radiant Idol?
  • Nerys says they did their job and did some investigating.
  • Yashira takes over. Happenstance, an older acquintance of hers tipped them off. She was killed by the Idol when she came to Yashira. That's hard to walk away from. Yashira apologises for not contacting the Blackened Book when they found it.
  • "Some things need to be dealt with quickly. I was worried they would relocate it we took too long."
  • "Wroen Bakker?"
  • "Yes"
  • The Jorasco clinic contacted the Book.
  • Warden Dalian asked for all the details on this Idol, how were they protected? What was the scope of their cult? Was anybody else harmed or killed?
  • Yashira explains as best she can, and asks how long the charm effects last?
  • Warden Dalian explains that it depends on the Idol. They aren't a new problem for the city, support is in place and the Book will help the victims.
  • Damien explains that they all saw the Idol as someone else, someone close to them or someone they idolise?
  • Is that common?
  • Warden Cord answers, every idol is unique and the form they take is dependent on their domain. This is part of the puzzle.
  • Damien starts to explain who he saw, and then pauses. "Someone whom I know, who was very...close...in proximity...to me for a while, who I may have had certain feelings about that I don't want to express."
  • "Someone who would confuse me and give me pause."
  • Yashira agrees, she saw someone that would elicit strong emotions in her.
  • They're dancing around it, it's so funny. Neither of them say who they actually saw
  • Nerys says that they saw a childhood friend who is currently dead or missing. So it doesn't need to be someone who is currently alive.
  • "I just saw Damien" - Charlie
  • "Are you sure you weren't just looking at Damien?" - Nerys
  • lmao
  • Charlie explains that Damien doesn't have stained glass wings, nor is he 10 feet tall.
  • "It wasn't them, it just looked like them"
  • Yashira comments that it did take on other aspects though, it called her "detective" despite never meeting her before. It's curious it used the same nickname as...that person.
  • They theorize the angel must've had access to some surface level memory or something to copy their...loved ones.
  • Charlie suggests it may've been psionic?
  • Warden Cord has a theory, but what do they think the domain of the angel was?
  • "Someone you really miss" says Nerys
  • "I won't answer that without a lawyer present" says Damien
  • "Emotion? Art elicits strong emotions in people" says Yashira
  • Both detectives give their theory, Dalian says "Love" and Cord says "Beauty"
  • This elicits a strong emotional response in Damien and Yashira specifically
  • Nerys does comment that the person they saw was very handsome
  • "Why would an angel need to...aren't they by definition beautiful?"
  • Charlie interrupted them by sneezing
  • Yashira asks if he's cold
  • "Not really"
  • Nerys asks Charlie what's more probable. Does he think Damien is beautiful or does he love him?
  • "Both of those are true, doesn't narrow it down"
  • Yashira says it's definitely not love. It's beauty, one hundred percent.
  • Damien agrees, yeah, something you might attractive like a work of art, not beauty
  • "Yeah something you can acknowledge. I'm a grown woman, I can acknowledge that it's beautiful, but it doesn't mean anything. Yes."
  • Charlie thinks the detective is correct, it was the domain of Love. It felt obsessive and toxic, but it felt like Love.
  • "Not saying that what I feel about Damien is that, but that's what I think the angel embodied"
  • Nerys agrees maybe, the person they saw is possibly dead? So trying to pursue that is spinning in circles and living in the past.
  • Charlie continues his explanation and says "uwu", which gets a smile from Dalian but a scowl from Cord.
  • Yashira asks if angels could share domains? Is it an issue that they destroyed it?
  • Warden Cord explains that destroying an idol is not permanent, it will reform, and this gives them an idea of how it will operate when it does
  • Nerys gets a bit philosophical, like how Love will always come back and can we ever really let it go?
  • "Are you okay, Nerys?" - Charlie
  • hmm
  • Warden Dalian asks them to lock in, please, and explain how they actually destroyed the Radiant Idol?
  • Yashira gives everyone a quick glance, and then points at Chantalyn.
  • Chantalyn outed herself before Yashira even had the chance, just waxing poetic about the sparkly silver flame in her heart. She's being interviewed by a different detective.
  • Yashira explains they injured it in various ways, and they had a very powerful paladin of Thrane with them, who dealt the final blow. She isn't sure if it just the damage, or the magic that brought it down.
  • "That was very lucky"
  • Yes, it was
  • Nerys says they're also experienced adventurers, from Clifftop Adventurer's Guild!
  • "This wasn't a Clifftop job though!"
  • Sound like you believe it, Yashira
  • "This was a personal matter, for me. I had to see it through, given my relationship with Wroen Bakker"
  • The detectives ask to speak individually to Charlie and Nerys. Uh oh.
  • Damien doesn't like this, but he doesn't try and get in their way.
  • Warden Cord takes Nerys aside. He asks where they learned magic?
  • They explain that they're a Talespinner, going for their book but remembering they haven't used it much, this isn't the book they learned magic with (that one got destroyed). They collect stories, that's why they're adventuring, and when they tell those stories they have power. Cord asks if they channel Thelanis to do this?
  • "I think so. I don't have an official education in magic, I just like doing it and have been doing it a lot."
  • Nerys gives a bit too much information about their history and their family not wanting them to go into this, it's a bit out there.
  • Warden Cord states they had no record of Nerys, but they do now. In the event of a crisis to the city, would they be willing to be called upon to assist?
  • They aren't sure what that means? How could they help?
  • Cord explains that it sounds like their magic can push people past their limits, that can be helpful. 
  • "Okay, sure, I guess"
  • Warden Cord makes the note, and for transparency sake, explains that this is just a note that they were compliant. If they are called upon, they will have to assist, by law.
  • Nerys seems confused, so Warden Cord explains that the Book keep records of every spellcaster in the city, so that they can be called upon as a resource. But also, to keep an eye on their activities.
  • Cord lets them go back to the group, they both say "good day"
  • Okay, Charlie's got the gnome
  • The height difference is diabolical
  • "Okay Charles. Can you explain to me where you learned magic?"
  • "Well, uhh, I learned a lot of it from my Uncle Aleister when I was a kid. I've just been practicing."
  • "You're not studying it at Morgrave University?"
  • "No, I'm studying politics and history. For my PhD they recommended getting some hands on experience, before I go on an expedition to Xen'drik"
  • "So, you said you learned from your Uncle. Are you able to explain to me the source of your magical abilities?"
  • "It depends on the sort of magic. Sometimes you have to draw on different planes for different effects. Was there a particular spell you wanted to know about?"
  • "I just found it interesting you lean so much on ice magic. What plane are you drawing that from?"
  • "Risia. We went to a Risian manifest zone, my magic was so powerful there."
  • "Icewhite Island! Have you ever been?"
  • "No, not personally. I don't suppose I could take a look at your spellbook?"
  • Panic
  • He says he doesn't have it on him! He memorises some of the spells he uses most commonly, he didn't plan to do a lot of magic today.
  • "Mhmm."
  • Warden Dalian is suspicious. Charlie gets the impression that Hasal is onto him, but for whatever reason the detective doesn't press it further.
  • Hasal explains that the Blackened Book keeps a record of all notable spellcasters in the city. Charlie's actions today mark him as notable. In a time of crisis, would he be willing to assist the city?
  • "Does it matter if I say no?"
  • Hasal explains the deal. His compliance, or otherwise, will be noted but he will be expected to answer if called upon.
  • Hasal then explains that they will also be keeping an eye on him to ensure he does not misuse his magical abilities.
  • Charlie asks what constitutes misuse?
  • "Breaking the law, Charles."
  • Charlie asks for clarification on which laws? Arcane laws?
  • "The Code of Galifar, Charles."
  • Charlie asks him to call him Charlie. Very well, Charlie.
  • "I am satisfied enough with your answers, we'll be in touch if we need any more from you. You can return to your companions, and do say hi to your benefactor, whoever they are."
  • "My benefactor?"
  • Hasal just winks and walks away
  • Charlie returns to the others. Yashira has been anxiously pacing, and immediately asks how it went?
  • "Aside from the gnome definitely knowing I have a patron, and being officially notified of my registration, it could've gone worse. It definitely could've gone better, I am not good at lying."
  • Damien wonders if they asked the same of Nerys? They're just wrapping up
  • Nerys returns, and isn't sure if they did something bad or not?
  • Yashira asks what they asked?
  • Nerys explains the same, they asked about their magic and if they can call upon them if they need help?
  • "Does this mean I can't leave Sharn anymore?"
  • Charlie doesn't think so, it's just that if there's trouble they might be summoned.
  • "But what if we're not in Sharn?"
  • "Then we don't get summoned."
  • Nerys thinks their mom is going to be mad at them, this sounds very official and they didn't read a contract or anything. Even if it was just a verbal agreement, it sounded so official.
  • Charlie says they were going to have to do it regardless, there wasn't actually a choice.
  • Nerys thinks it sounds similar to jury duty
  • Yashira says she's going to look into something, see if she can get Nerys taken off their books.
  • Nerys wants to help though!
  • "But Sharn isn't your home, Nerys, and you have other obligations"
  • Yashira explains that her sister works in the justice system, she'll try and see what can be done. She doesn't think she can help with Charlie though, he's too associated with the city and he's a Brelish citizen.
  • Charlie thanks her for the sentiment, anyway. It is what it is.
  • "God, psionics always rub me up the wrong way" says Charlie. Who said anything about psionics?
  • Yashira says it could've gone worse, at least none of them got arrested.
  • Hasal clears his throat.
  • Yashira puts on her most innocent face
  • "On that note, inquisitive, given your service to the city today, we are willing to overlook the breaking and entering and strike it from your records. We must remind you that vigilantism is against the law. We will be keeping a closer eye on your activities from now on. Understood, Ms Medani?"
  • Yashira tries to explain that speed was of the essence, they couldn't afford for it to get lost in bureaucracy!
  • "The Blackened Book can respond with more expediency. You should have contacted us."
  • Yashira admits fault in this instance.
  • "That's all I wanted! I'm sure we'll be seeing you again, Ms Medani."
  • Mhmm
  • Damien says "have a good rest of your evening, officer"
  • "It's early morning, Mr d'Orien. You should get some sleep"
  • Hasal leaves, and Yashira comments again that at least they didn't get arrested!
  • Ban lets out his breath, he's been holding it for so long.
  • Damien says "oh don't worry Ban, you were never going to prison. The rest of us, maybe, but not you"
  • Ban says he couldn't just stay alone and let the rest of them get arrested! At least it didn't come to that.
  • Yashira says it's been such a long day, they all need some rest.
  • Chantalyn interjects and reminds them of the fashion show!
  • "So like, what are we gonna do?"
  • "A fashion show, apparently"
  • They all need to go to sleep first though. To reduce travel time, most of them head to Yashira's apartment as it's closest. She takes the floor, there's only one bed and some furniture. Free for all.
  • Nerys goes back to their own apartment.
  • The rest of them have a sleepover at Yashira's. So cozy, so sweet.
  • Ban's just glad he can make everybody breakfast.
  • Yashira puts her hand on his shoulder and apologises for the state of her fridge and kitchen.
  • "No worries. Yashira, sweetie, I always bring my own."
  • All she has is some leftover noodles from a local takeaway, and a pot of coffee for some reason. The milk in the fridge has turned to cheese.
  • Ban mutters an "oh boy" under his breath. He ponders doing meal prep for her, this girl needs to eat real food.
  • "I knew the situation was bad but not this bad"
  • Chantalyn gets turbo depressed by Yashira's apartment and goes to her hotel. She'll be back one day to redecorate.
  • "What are these curtains?"
  • "What do you mean? I've had them for 10 years"
  • "Bitch, what are these stains?"
  • Yashira tells a story about staking someone out that was camping outside her apartment and spilling coffee on them
  • It's the worst sleepover they've ever had. Ruckus just sleeps on a pillow.
  • Camping scene! They redefine their relationship tags
  • Charlie writes a letter to someone, we'll find out more about that later


Evening of 24th Sypheros, 998 YK

  • They have the fashion show that happened last session! Ell does a Chantalyn impression, it's like Becca is really here


26th Sypheros, 998 YK (This happened after the 27th in-game)

  • Damien goes to find Yashira. His coat is ruined, it's covered in holes and blood stains, and he realises he can't just wash it out.
  • He decides it can't be saved, he wants a new coat. He finds her at her apartment. His knock spooks her and she knocks stuff off of her desk.
  • "Oh hey, I wasn't expected to see you"
  • "That's because it's an unexpected visit"
  • "What happened to your jacket? You look naked"
  • "Yeah, about that"
  • He's had it for as long as they've known each other, but he thinks it's past fixing.
  • "I was thinking, who do I know who could make a fabulous jacket?"
  • "Chantalyn Sarhain! We should call her up!"
  • "Oh, yeah, I suppose that's true. But she's gone, I don't know where she went"
  • "Back to Thrane probably"
  • "But also I don't want to deal with anymore Sarhains"
  • "She'd probably have charged you a premium anyway, cos it's meeee"
  • "That was a flawless impression"
  • Yashira says to give her a moment, and lets Damien into the office, the only part of the apartment that's nice and tidy (it's public facing).
  • She fishes out her sewing kit from her room, gets her threads and materials, and lays them out for Damien to pick from.
  • "You said you had an idea in mind?"
  • He gets out some notes, he's drawn sketches! (They aren't good)
  • "Do you think this is something you could do? Some cold filligree, maybe some unicon iconography in the back?"
  • Like the uniforms in Clair Obscur, but more Orien
  • "Do you want the unicorn to be in this minimalist golden inlay, or coloured in and more of an artistic expression on the back? Maybe part of the inlay and-"
  • She's getting into it, adding her own notes. Damien wants it subtler, so those that know can see it but it's not super obvious to everyone else.
  • He's already got a horse sword, doesn't want too much horse
  • Yashira thinks its sweet he's repping his house. She wouldn't be found dead with a basilisk on any of her clothing, though.
  • Yashira asks when Damien is planning to visit his family again. Any time soon?
  • "Maybe not soon, I don't have enough to fill them in with"
  • "I dunno, you did sort of kill a radiant idol, and you've starred in a fashion show! There's some things you could fill them in on!"
  • He could fit it into a letter!
  • Damien's sister has already told him he doesn't send enough letters, and he's received three since they got back in Sharn.
  • Apparently they all seem to be the same letter continuing across them all, not sure why she sent it as three separate letters
  • Hmm
  • She did recently manifest a dragonmark!
  • Is that part of the mark? You also seem to be very…energetic.
  • Damien explains that the mark compels them to move, and Alice won't have had time to get used to it yet. She was already bouncing off the walls before she manifested the mark. He's not jealous of his parents right now.
  • Yashira thinks it's a bit of a foreign concept. She's sure the consequences of the mark must be outweighed by the happiness his family must feel, he was the first manifestation for them in 60 years?
  • "Okay Yashira, cope" says Books in the chat
  • "What are the upstairs neighbours going on about?"
  • Damien explains that his parents are proud, but they're equally proud of his brothers who didn't manifest a mark. He's just happy they're doing well.
  • "At the risk of being a gossip, which I am not, how are your family faring with you doing all this? They must be quite keen to get you married off, working for the house. Are they keen for you to carry on the family line, or are they waiting on Alice to do that?"
  • "Oh, well umm. I'm not gay, people in the ceiling, I'm pansexual"
  • "Yeah they're nosy bitches"
  • Yashira gets a stick a pokes the ceiling
  • "Y'know, I don't think I really, there was never any pressure."
  • "Yeah your family seem very lovely"
  • "I assume if I was too, or am, entering a relationship with…umm, someone who can't provide kids, obviously they still have Alice"
  • "Yeah it's just, we come from families with lots of siblings. It's a fucking nightmare, and I don't know, my family are very lovely but my eldest brother is in his forties now and they do incessently bicker at him that he has to find someone at some point. I was just curious if your family are like that"
  • "No no, they definitely get on at Cedric and his wife. They have two children already. I don't know, I think the mark is just generally linked to the bloodline so it doesn't need to be me or Alice."
  • "Of course, it's just in our blood somewhere. 20 years, 40, 60. It's just a curse having a big family, isn't it? It's much nicer getting away from it"
  • "As much as I am enjoying this, I do miss home. I miss having to pull my brother out of a tree, large family dinners-"
  • "That part is good, except when you have all the nosy aunts and uncles and cousins and second cousins"
  • Damien agrees, god his cousins were insufferable
  • "Well now you get to go home and say you've been in a fashion show, killed a radiant idol, stopped two terrorist attacks on a lightning rail! There's a lot of things you can hang over their heads, that's what I like to do when they ask me 'hey Yashira what are you up to?'. Yeah I'm an adventurer now, have I found someone? No, no, I'm married to my job as my parents keep saying."
  • "I thought your parents were supportive?"
  • "Oh, they are, I think I'm just too much of a workaholic for them. They want me to have other vices, but here i am, making a jacket for you. I think it's very fulfilling."
  • Damien says that's why he came to her, to give her something else to focus on
  • "Oh, so this is an intervention?"
  • No no no, this is a friend just giving another friend something to do! He just doesn't want any of them to suffer
  • "That is true. I do need to calm it, I think, on our missions. I'm giving people undue stress, Ban is gonna have a heart attack. I can see white hairs forming already, he saw my pantry and he blanched and held my head and said 'oh sweetheart, it's going to be okay'"
  • Ban is so good
  • Damien explains that Ban is the exception, the most well put together of this messy bitch squad.
  • Damien tells a story about something his brother told him when he failed his Test of Siberys. Marks are important, but the Mark doesn't make the man. "Look at you. Look at my brother."
  • "Cope"
  • Shut up, ceiling people
  • "I haven't seen Bastien in a long time, but he's one of the most capable of all of my siblings, and he has no mark. The fact he doesn't was the thing that pushed him so far, but that isn't necessarily a negative."
  • "Maybe you should invite him to dinner sometime. If not in Sharn, head back to Passage."
  • "I don't know where he is, he could be anywhere. I thought I saw him in the crowd, you know, but that's impossible."
  • "Must've been some lingering effect of the Radiant Idol, I saw someone in the crowd too."
  • "Oh, who?"
  • "Oh we don't need to go into that"
  • "I know who it was"
  • "Oh yeah? Say their name"
  • "I don't want to, it'll manifest him."
  • "Okay, 20 questions. What is the first letter of their name?"
  • "D, I think"
  • She pricks him with a needle. They continue this activity for several more questions, and every time an answer gets closer to Drego Sarhain, she accidentally pricks him with the needle.
  • They spend the evening this way while Yashira makes him a new jacket. Yashira has to draw on her merchant contacts to get the materials, and draws on her new insights from working with Chantalyn.
  • It's a great success, she makes an amazing jacket!
  • She considers maybe getting Ruckus to add some magic to it. She holds onto the jacket until she's had time to see Ruckus.
  • In the meantime, she makes him a rudimentary one that will do until then.


27th Sypheros, 998 YK

  • Nerys approaches Ban at the inn he works at. He's on the bar today, so they can talk to him.
  • They wait for a quiet hour to talk to him. They poke their head in, dragging their feet, being all sheepish.
  • "Nerys! Hi! Is this your first time here?"
  • Ban is an angel
  • "I think I've been here one time after we did something, you cooked for us. Do you like...umm, I wanted to talk to you, if it's a bad time I can come back later?"
  • "Oh no, don't worry! Let me just let my sister know I'll be taking a break!"
  • Ban does that! His sister wants to meet Nerys, so he comes back with her
  • "This is Nerys! They are amazing at coming up with stories! We're going to sit down for a bit"
  • He takes Nerys to a corner booth where they have a bit more privacy, but it's still pretty open. 
  • Nerys is not wearing their bells! :O That's weird
  • They're nervously playing with their hands, just stimming all over the shop
  • "Nerys, is everything okay?" - Ban
  • "umm, I wanted to talk to you because I wasn't, I didn't, it just felt right to go to you if that makes sense."
  • "Okay?"
  • "I..."
  • Take a deep breath, Nerys
  • "I'm thinking about going back home."
  • "Oh. Oh, I see. Is there a reason? Has something changed?"
  • "I mean...no? And also yes. I mean, I..."
  • Deep breaths, baby
  • "It's very hard to explain. Ban, why did you want to be an adventurer?"
  • "Oh, me? I wanted to be, well, as you can see my family has this lovely tavern. I'm not the first in line to take over, so I'd love to make my own establishment eventually, but I also wanted to travel and discover new places and flavours, and experiment, and use that experience to make a unique restaurant experience. I thought being an adventurer would give me perspectives and see places I never would've gotten otherwise."
  • Nerys thinks that's really beautiful. It's kinda the same reason they wanted to leave the Mror Holds. They wanted to find new tales and experiences, but they guess it's not really what they expected or wanted it to be?
  • "It just feels, it's just not like it's supposed to be. I don't feel like it's right? Maybe I'm a terrible person for saying this, but we're not like...a real adventuring group?"
  • "Hmm. I see."
  • "And any other reason I had for being here, I mean, I was looking for someone with Yashira. I don't even know if they're alive at all, but Yashira has been looking into it but it feels like it's just wishful thinking. After seeing him in the gallery, as the weird angel, I'm just...I don't know if I can be disappointed again."
  • "So are you thinking of stopping the search for this person, as well?"
  • "All I know is pointing towards the idea that he didn't make it out alive."
  • "I'm so sorry, Nerys"
  • "I don't want to be as obsessed as we were all feeling when we saw the angel. That feeling of obsession, I don't want to feel like that"
  • "I don't think anybody would, nobody can blame you for that. You don't need to apologise for feeling like you can't stay or this isn't serving your needs anymore. The important thing is that you're thinking this all through yourself and listening to what you actually want. Was there any other reason? Is there anything we could do differently? What would you consider a real adventurer? Would you still want to be one?"
  • "I know that not everything is like it is in the stories, and there aren't great adventures that are perfect, but...I know you weren't there and it's been a while, and I feel crazy for feeling this way because no one else is talking about this and I feel really upset about it. It's not a big deal to anyone, but when we were on this train and Damien just got hit in the face, Yashira just...left, she didn't stay to help. I was so mad, but then I thought she was dead, and we were all happy that she wasn't dead, and it never got brought up again!"
  • Nerys is in tears now
  • "I just thought if I was part of an adventuring group, it'd be like a found family, but I didn't think it would be like this. I know that I'm sheltered or whatever, and I don't know how things work sometimes, but I don't think Ruckus or Damien ever went out for a drink with us after an adventure."
  • "hmm"
  • "and you heard Yashira three days ago, maybe she's right. Sharn isn't my home. Yeah...I'm sorry"
  • Ban hugs them
  • "It's okay, it sounds like it's been really hard on you. You're right, it's not really what I expected all of the time either, but I'm still glad I got to meet you all, and I also feel like I wanted that found family. I feel like I've got it, to some extent, but I can't speak for anyone else, but I still hope that if you decide to go home, you at least promise to write. I still care, at least, and I'm sure everyone else does too. I think they're just not as used to being around others all the time, and they all have their own responsibilities outside of the adventures. Maybe they just need some time to themselves after, it's not necessarily anything personal."
  • Nerys has their face buried in his shoulder, and looks up at him.
  • "I'm just really scared that if I tell them I want to leave, that they'll just sat goodbye and that's it."
  • Ban hesitates. "I can't say how anyone else will react, but even if they do that, it doesn't mean they don't care. It could just be that they want to respect your decision, and don't want you to feel bad about your decision. Sometimes when people don't get emotional, it's because they want to make it easier for you."
  • Nerys says that when Ban explains it, it all makes so much sense. 
  • "Think it through. I don't think anyone will try to stop you, they might be confused, but I think they'll all support you. Maybe you should talk it out with some of them before making a decision?"
  • "I don't even know how to do that"
  • "Well, we could gather everybody together for dinner or something and we can see if that'll be a good moment? If you don't feel it, we can still just have a good night together."
  • "Would that really be okay?"
  • "Of course! Absolutely! I'll send everybody invites right away. Just give me a date that works for you. We should give a few days notice at least so everybody can make it, I'm sure it'll work out"
  • Nerys wipes their nose and thanks him very much. They aren't good at hiding their emotions. Ban thinks they don't necessarily want to leave, they want to be told that others want them around and don't want them to leave.
  • "I want to try talking to them, if you help me, I will try to be brave. It sounds so stupid, I'm an adult! I can be an adult, yes."
  • "It's okay, adults can be scared and vulnerable too. Everybody has their moments where they just need support."
  • "I just feel like I always make mistakes. I feel like I'm constantly saying the wrong thing and I don't want everybody to be mad at me"
  • "We can also talk about that if you want, but i don't think it's bothering anyone as much as you think it is. We all make mistakes, that's just how it is. When we make mistakes, we think about them obsessively, I can tell you every single mistake I've made too, but the thing is, I don't remember the ones you've made! Or Yashira, or Charlie, or Damien, or Ruckus. We're always thinking about our own mistakes."
  • Nerys can't think of anything Ban's ever done wrong, in his life
  • "Well, I would rather not remind you, but there was a very unfortunate case of mushroom soup"
  • Oh yeah
  • "You're really really good at this, Ban"
  • "You're really good at what you do too, Nerys"
  • "I don't even know what that is most of the time"
  • "You're a good friend, you inspire everybody, you get on with everyone you meet. You do so many things amazingly"
  • "Thank you, you've really made me feel better"
  • "I really hope so. Would you like to stay for dinner, since you're here?"
  • "Yes...it smells really, really good"
  • "And it's on the house, no worries! With dessert!"
  • This is the best day of Nerys' life now. They hope they don't oversalt anything with their tears.
  • It's very good, and very cozy.


28th Sypheros, 998 YK (Ruckus and Charlie)

  • It's time for Ruckus to move into Charlie's apartment! We pan to Ruckus' shed down in the Cogs. Charlie goes down there with Ruckus.
  • It's just a small wooden shed, holes in the walls. Blanket in the ceiling patching a hole.
  • Damn bitch you live like this?
  • "So, this is my home. Abode. Box? This is something"
  • "Yeah…shit."
  • "Mind the nails"
  • lmao
  • Ruckus opens the door to let Charlie in. There's not a lot of space, there's a small table with a single chair, a workbench with some tools (incl Simon) and some papers covered in sketches, and to the right are a bunch of boxes of scrap.
  • He also has a broken mirror, the shards of glass have been hung from the ceiling to make the world's most dangerous chandelier.
  • Ruckus gives Charlie a tour of the single room. The chair is the bed, apparently.
  • "I felt like fixing the place up, making it a bit more homey"
  • "Oh, yeah, I can see that you've done that."
  • Charlie asks what he's bringing with him? All of it?
  • Ruckus looks around at his…vast trove of possessions. Obviously he's gotta take simon, and his scrap, and his blueprints.
  • "If safe to do so, I'd like to take the chandelier"
  • Good luck with that lmao
  • It is no safe to do so
  • How much do you love him, Charlie?
  • Charlie's willing to try! They'll need to dismantle it, though. Wouldn't want to break it.
  • Right, let's get some boxes
  • They pack up Ruckus' entire life, and move it up to Charlie's apartment. It takes them a few trips. They pay some random passers by to help.
  • Charlie's apartment is in a studenty area. He's tried to decorate it, but he's been doing it on a budget. None of the furniture matches, the glass chandelier is gonna fit right in. He has a piano! There are books everywhere. It's all second hand stuff, it feels lived in.
  • Charlie used to have a roommate apparently, but he doesn't anymore. The spare room is very basic, just a single bed and a wardrobe. Bed side cabinet.
  • Charlie just asks that if Ruckus touches the books or piano, that he wash his hands first
  • "Got it, don't touch the books or piano"
  • Fair enough
  • Ruckus makes himself at home, and gets to reassembling his chandelier. Charlie "helps", but he's mostly just watching him do it.
  • Once they've got him settled, he begins working on an upgrade to Ban's pan to allow it to self heat. Child's play for Ruckus at this point. He spends ages in the workshop, making all sorts of mechanical noises, and then presents the frying pan that looks exactly the same but now has a heating rune on it.


28th Sypheros, 998 YK (Nerys)

  • Nerys goes to check on Brom, and spends the day with him. They tell him stories. They get a new fellowship relationship tag!


28th Sypheros, 998 YK (Yashira)

  • Ban drops off a bunch of lunchboxes at Yashira's apartment.
