About

Magic is a native part of Enochia, thus near all inhabitants of the world knows of its existence, but very few are experts on the subject.
But while magic is a natural part of the world, prominent spellcasters themselves are not common, and often a village will not have anyone capable of casting much more than basic spells.

The history of the world also influences where one might find powerful old magic and artifacts. The post-apocalyptic world is filled with ancient undiscovered treasure and artifacts, which may lie buried as a result of The Conflux.

Magical items

Magic items can be found throughout the world. Often buried beneath ruins of old, or worn by powerful people.
In fact, there are entire guilds dedicated to searching and selling items to those powerful and brave enough to wield them.

Magical items are seen as signs of power, and is greatly sought after by higher class citizens who seek to use them for any advantage they can.

Thus, for a commoner, 'Magic shops' with magical items does not exist in Enochia.

Crafting magical items

Crafting magical items is a knowledge reserved for a very privileged few in the world, as that knowledge is worth much power, and they cling to this with everything they have.

Creating a spellcaster (mechanical)

In Enochia there are three typical ways in which mortals have gotten access to casting spells:
  • They channel their powers through a god or powerful entity
  • They are born with it.
  • They have learned it through studying

Spellcasters in D&D that may mechanically rely on worshiping gods for their powers (Druids, Paladins, Clerics) have two options:

  • They can adhere to a god found in The Gods, which include some concept outlined in Gods and worship and The Fulfillment.
This option simply mean the source of your powers are 'through' your associated god like normal.

  • Alternatively, you can explain your spellcasting as something you've been born with (Something innate). This power then evolves and ultimately manifest based on how you've lived your life. (Your backstory)
    • A cleric of the 'Forge' domain might have been born with magic, but choosing the life of a blacksmith apprentice, honing his skills, and seeing his magic manifest as a result of that, giving him that particular skill set.
    • A paladin with the 'Oath of Glory' might've been born with magic, but also with a desire to become known for his deeds, not his words. This desire has driven him to training obsessively towards this purpose, and thus his powers have manifested this way.

Spellcasters that were born with their power innately, or acquired it through other means (i see you warlock) can explain it using standard rules.
