Manea

The city of Manea is known for two things, master woodworkers that produce the sturdiest of sea vessels and a plague.

Manea is a collection of fishermen and craftsmen and their families that live in a dense forest that is cut in half by a twisting river that quickly meets the coastline. The city was originally a bustling collection of homes and shops at the edge of the forest on the banks of the river. It had built a reputation for producing the finest sailing ships but nearly a generation ago a strange plague had spread through the community. The city was ravaged by disease and madness. Some told tales of Werebeasts that emerged from the woods that carried the sickness to the city, but this was never confirmed. There is now a lot of recent ruins as no one has moved back into parts of the old city.

After the plague had killed more than half the city the remaining inhabitants moved into the woods and erected high walls that joined across the river in huge gates. From inside the walled city, they still toil away in shipyards that produce sailing ships used across the kingdom.

They are suspicious of outsiders that may bring disease again so their hunters and sentries don animal hides while patrolling the woods. They have perpetuated the rumors that the only remaining inhabitants of Manea are Lycanthropes. From the middle of Agertrim through Aurim and ending about halfway through Azztrim, townsfolk place meat on the edges of town at night.
