After suffering the loss of Jon to the crab swarm, the party finish resting and Hudd Fearn returns with some rabbits. After eating, the rag tag bunch are ready for a days travel. Two makeshift stretchers are made to carry Peyton made of sails. The days travel goes by and early afternoon the forest opens in to a clearing, in its centre lies the village of Jarce, a palisade walled community with farmland around its perimeter. Upon entry to the village the party are introduced to Lord Argak Felwood. Some of the party are shady about their identities but they are clearly in need and Argak gets Meldrin Thorn to help tend to the wounded. Mornington challenges Fenris to a duel due to his coin purse being stolen from him. The fight is over quickly but results in Lord Felwood breaking it up.
They later visit the wounded Crew of The Alacrity and Meldrin informs them that to save Wilmot they will need to retrieve a special root from a tree in the swamps to the north. It has the power to heal magically when prepared correctly.
