Dawnreach fell into war with the neighbouring country of Hestrounia. While invested in war efforts they drafted extra soldiers from their lands to help secure victory.
The deciding battle of the war was won by the forces of Dawnreach, it was over a religious site treasured by the orders of faith in Hestrounia.
The forces of Dawnreach however came back empty handed, as the temple was desecrated and many of its valuables stolen from under the noses of both sides. The culprits of which are unknown to this day.
After the forces retreated and Dawnreach secured new lands on their border the economy of the country was changed, the Noble houses were stretched thin and they did not claim the spoils of war they were hoping for.
Although the height of tension has since ironed out, the nations of Dawnreach still hold their grudges and live by different values and cultures that will forever fail to have them see eye to eye with the devout beliefs of Hestrounia.
