New Player Guide

Getting Started

  1. Follow the invite link and create an account on Kanka.io, then join the campaign
  2. Go to Notes-> Genesys PDFs and download the Core Rule Book
  3. Create an account on RPG Sessions.com
  4. On rpgsessions.com, goto library-> new and create a new character sheet. 
  5. Make your character and fill out the sheet on RPG Sessions.
  6. Goto Games -> The Rule of Norm -> Game Table and add your character to the game table.
  7. Goto Settings and choose "Allow GM Control"
  8. Create an entry for your character on Kanka.io and link it to your RPG sessions sheet

Tips for new players of Tyrants

  • Don't worry about making mistakes or making the perfect character. We are very nice about retcons.
  • You can change your character later any time between sessions.
  • Make a simple character first, then make it more complex after you've learned the system.
  • If you don't like your current character, you can swap it out with a new one with the same gold and XP.
  • Before asking Norm, ask other players for help. They get a referral bonus of XP for helping new players. 
  • Games are not regularly scheduled. Gather a group of players and ping @GM if you'd like to play a game.

Creating a Character

  1. Determine background. Come up with a brief idea of what you'd like to play.
  2. Select Archetype or Species. 
  3. Choose Career
  4. Invest Experience Points
  5. Determine Derived Attributes
  6. Determine Character Motivation
  7. Pick Gear
