A vast desert region impossibly flanked by the ocean to the west and towering mountains to the east. To many, the vast swathes of canyons and dunes may seem inhospitable, and history speaks of a great calamity that resulted in this arid wasteland. Despite this, its people have adapted to the harsh conditions by making use of magic and ingenuity. Hearty serpentkin and lizardfolk work alongside dutiful kobold and proud dragonborn, and through their efforts they have crafted wealthy civilizations with reverence for past rulers and the old, spiteful gods who scarred the land countless ages ago. 

Though many a village and city dots the sands of Nakash, by far its greatest jewel is the kingdom of Skarshire; an immense city built into the largest canyon in the desert. Considered one of the most prominent sites of arcane study in all of the land, many colleges of mages and sorcerers hone their magic in this gilded paradise beneath the blazing sun. Once it was ruled by a council of archmages, though when two of their number enhanced themselves through a ritual they seized power and control over it. Now, the city and Nakash itself are ruled by the viper mage who cast out and banished her dragonborn rival.
