Genesys Revisited Thoughts

Size Increases are Represented Through Stats, not Silhouette.

Skills and items that increase size will improve the following stats

Armor, Damage, Breach, Wound Threshold, Strain Threshold, Speed, Carrying Capacity

They won't affect Silhouette directly, which should largely be a function of flavor

Derive Silhouette from stats, not the other way around.

We might arbitrarily decide something with +10 Melee Damage is Sil 6, rather then trying to determine how much melee damage something should do at base Sil 6.

Silhouette is only loosely linked to Stats

Yes, bigger is better. But this should be a rule of creation rather than a hard mathematical formula.

The Brawn Translation Problem

If Brawn via growth directly converts to armor, then suddenly Brawn 6 characters are immune to most vehicle weapons.

If Brawn doesn't convert to armor, then it's useless once you get to vehicle weapons levels.

There needs to be some kind of inbetween?

At this point, I would prefer to err towards just advising people Brawn could be a useless stat as they grow bigger.

Growth Triggers

Instead of Growth Triggers affecting silhouette directly, they add to stats.

Grow Bigger:

For each tier in a talent, roll 1Y

For every Success, add 1 Damage to all Melee rolls

For every Triumph add 1 Armor

Spend Advantage To:

  • Boost an Ally
  • Impair an Enemy
  • Increase your WT

Flavor:

  • For each Success, you grow 10% bigger
  • For each Triumph, you grow 20% bigger
  • For each Advantage you grow 5% bigger

So if you roll 5Y and get: 3 Success, 1 Triumph, 1 Advantage, you grow 155% your current size. If you were 100 feet tall, then you'd grow to 155 feet.

---

GMs could differentiate how they interpret these rolls for size or even stats.

Different abilities, items and talents could provide 'growth rolls' for varying effects.

Sex Engineering

Sex could be a primary mechanism for extracting materials and constructing/implanting gene mods.

Kaiju Engineers could

  • harvest enemies for materials
  • construct genemods
  • implant them through fucking.

Leads to: Questing for materials

Kaiju To Vehicle Conversion

Kaiju to Vehicle Equivalency

Giants are easiest to balance in the context of vehicles.

Growth Stages/Examples

"Ogre" - 10 ft (Large)

You now count as a vehicle when taking damage

Armor 0

Soak +10

Hull Threshold HT = 1 Per Brawn

1 HT = 10 WT

Melee Damage: Brawn +10 + Damage

Brawl Base Damage: Brawn +10

Every 10 Personal Scale Damage = 1 Vehicle Scale Damage.

Therefore 16 Personal damage = 1 Vehicle damage

Ogre is the first step from being simply an amazon or wookie to being a true giant, ie. "Past 6 Brawn"

Limits:

Armor Limit: 0

HT Limit 3

"Hill Giant" 15 Ft (Huge) AT PT

Max HT 6

Max Armor 3

Hill Giant size is the first true giant. In D&D this would be 'Huge' Size rather than just "Large"

Twin Light Blaster Cannons, Dam 4, Crit 4, Linked 1

"Storm Giant" 30 Ft (Gargantuan) AT ST

Max HT 5-15

Max Armor 3

Twin Heavy Blaster Cannons, Dam 5, Crit 4, Linked 1

X wing 40 ft

Sil 3

HT 10

Armor 3

Laser Cannons, Dam 6, Crit 3, Linked 3

AT AT 75 Ft (Colossal) AT AT

Sil 5

Max HT 40

Max Armor 3
